I made this post in the wake surf forum, but it seems a little slow in there. I'm in the market for a new boat and the 205V fits in my price range. I mostly wake board now, but I want to try surfing. Can anyone give suggestions on ballast size and placement? Pictures of the wake would be great as well.

Thanks
Jon

I have an 2007 X1. Same boat. We load up the port side with the standard ballast and have everyone else get on that side as well. I also tried it with a 800lbs sack....Thought I was gonna take water over the back!

heres a pic from a few weeks ago just stock ballast on that side with 4 people on port side and the driver.Upload

ya, its surprisingly good, both port and starboard sides. Not huge, but well formed, and fun to ride.

Just be careful on the starboard side not to put your gas cap under water

we run with a 750 in back, 580 on side seat, center full, 400 in bow on surf side and 400 in pop bags along surf side.

Definitely second the caution on the starboard side with the gas cap...wound up with three gallons of water in the tank the first time on starboard side. Since then my husband made a "surf snorkel" that keeps the water out and allows air in.

Jon, if you think you're going to be spending more time wakesurfing, it may be worth doing some looking into on Centurion.

Thanks guys.

Do the newer boat with this hull have the hard tank ballasts? Can I put them in an older 205 or would it be a waste?

I plan on about 75% wake, 10% skate, 10% ski, and 5% surf. However, having never surfed before that could change. Especially as I get older.

You will love surfing! It will be more than 5% :-)

Don,

I need a boat less than 21'-6" and under $20k. What do you suggest?

Jeff, are you upgrading to a new Centurion?

I'd like to see a pic of that snorkle. Been thinking about putting two gas tank vents in, one on either side and a valve to swap between them.

Don, I'm not sure yet. Was thinking about and new or newer Enzo, we want and need to upgrade to at least 22' or 23'. Looking at Supra also. So many choices on boats, makes it hard to decide.

Centurions have absolutely the BEST wake surf wakes out there. There is no comparison to anything on the market today. With little or no ballast, that hull makes the cleanest, best shaped wake you can get

The surf wake as said is surprisingly funa and decent on both sides. My wife and I are both goofy and the wake is perfect for us.

Sure there are some boats that have a better surf wake, but surprisingly this 20ft boat kicks out a well fromed one for sure. WE run 600 in the rear 350 in the nose and 2-3 people on that side when possible. If no peopl we just fill a 300 and put it over there behind the driver

Where is the vent located on a x-1,x-2,205 hull.... is it under the cap or one of the thru-hull grommets on that side?
