Hey guyz i am a new owner of a VLX 08 pretty full equiped with : 340hp moonson, high alt prop, rear sun deck walkover, heather, MLS, dual batteries, power wedge, sport shround, sound pack 2, bimini, 2 bord rack swevel, 4 tower speakers, 4 lights, depth sounder, 6 cd changer, sub + amp, table, trailer. Like you see its a pretty loaded boat. I can have a trade for a X-star 40th (LY6) anniversary brand new loaded as well like this with the trailer 40th anniversary. If it was you will you go for it ? With that boat i will do : wakeboarding 65%, Surfing 35%, i want a boat that can handle well, have some room, can be 8+ confortable easy, and have a nice wake when we are just 3-4 in the boat. Help me with this one.

What would you want from the mastercraft that you aren't getting from your malibu? I have heard surfing behind the xstar is a little more difficult than other boats.

What would the advantage be? Your current boat is a better handling boat... seems like you'd be changing for changes sake...

It depends on how much you like heather. If she is cool and hot, I wouldn't trade her. If she is nasty I would say go for it. It could be an easy way out of an otherwise difficult spot. just tell her its time to trade and there is nothing you can do about it.

I would make the trade as well. I would also like to dispute the better handling part. I've never loaded my X Star up for surfing, but with additional ballast, my X Star out handles my old VLX

Do what makes you happy. Drive the X-Star and see if you like it better than your VLX. I dont understand why people ask questions like this expecting an educated answer. Everyone is going to jump on whatever bandwagon they ride whether it be MC, Malibu, Supra, Calabria, Tige, ect ect ect. If its truly a $0 trade and you can get into a new boat with 0 hours why wouldn't you???

It is a $ thing. Even if you get a straight up trade where ZERO money is exchanged, one boat has a higher resale value and thus you would be making $ on the trade. I'm a pretty big fan of the VLX and have a hard time putting the X-star ahead of it in regards to wake. They both rock. One thing you will need to realize is that if you want a pro wake from the X-star you are going to have a lot of sacks everywhere unless you can leave lead in the boat. VLX does a better job hiding weight and making things customizable with just a few buttons. Props on being rich.

Sounds like a Copes/Ultimate deal??? If that's what your deal is I would say try/drive both. Make them drag both boats out to the lake and drive/ride them side by side. I have a buddy with an X-Star and another with a VLX, I have a Nautique. In my opinion, there are some things nicer about the Bu, some thing nicer on the MC. Resale might be better on the MC. For what it's worth the MC is in the shop about twice as much as the Bu.

X-Star 1: less carpet & carpet inlay (smell) 2: better wake shape ( at 3000lbs total) 3: the malibu also needs extra weight but you can,t hide it under the seats like in a X-star. 4: looks these were my personal reasons to swich and to leave the family.

Just to give you an idea; NADA on a 2007 VLX(standard) is $54,280. NADA on a 2007 Xstar(standard) is $68,660.

well i think that paul bring a pretty major factor here, but in my situation i will change for a new boat every year, so i will have to invest between 9k to 13k depends on the options. But at the end when i will be tired of these kind of boat maybe in a long long time because i only have 23 the resale value will be better on a Mc but who know maybe in 10 years we will have a new brand named SUPA ROKA BOAT that will bring the standard to an higher level

Sorry I don't understand - so is it a straight trade or do you have to lay out 9-13k? If it's a straight trade, why not take it, then sell the X star, buy a new VLX and taker the profit and new 09 boat?!

Brit its a good idea but i am tired of al this. To have this boat look what i did : I trade our 1992 Carver 33-AFT yacht for a Monterrey 278ss 2008. I took the monterrey and i trade it for the Bu VLX 08 and now i am looking for the x-star . i dont have the energy to buy the x-star and resell and rebuy again to make 10k hahaha but its a good idea

Boat and collectors item...thanks for the laugh. If you have the extra cash get the x-star, otherwise keep the bu and just know that soven, sharpe, harris, and chuck knorris don't mind the VLX.
