guyz if you can help me out to set up my wake it will be really appreciated, we tried everything, wedge in every position, ballast filled on side we are surfing + center + bow filled from 9.6 to 11.5 mph and the wake was never as good as the other people boats. We were 8 in the boat all on the side of the surfer.

more weight
I have an 06 vlx run 750 rear locker 500 rear seat slide to the surf side 500 seat surf side 100-200 bow surf side plus surfing side rear +center + bow
wedge one click up from bottom
speed 10- 10.5 6- 8 people

I have found this hull take a lot of weight
finally static water line just at surf side rub rail

have surfed behind other boat they take less weight like the 08 vtx malibu one 750 rear sac great surf wake

The VLX takes a lot of weight to sink it for surfing, but once you do the wake gets massive. My buddy runs a 400 in the rear on top of the stock tank with about 7 or 8 people on the port side seats/bow and center ballast full and it works out pretty nicely.

You need 750 lbs ontop of stock mls in the rear surf side trunk and you'll be set. Try the wedge at 1/2. Speed looks good. You have the wake hull or diamond hull? You weight these hulls differently.

I have the wake hull too and run with all mls full accept surf side. 2 400# fly high sacs in the surf side rear locker, wedge all the way down, and as many peeps as you can. We can surf 15+ feet back with this wave and it's above your hip with lots of push. The water is about 3-4" above the rubrail. Turn your gas tank vent towards the back of the boat to prevent pushing water into your gastank. I'll e-mail you some pics to your e-mail in your profile tomorrow.

so you run all full mls plus 800 pounds in the rear locker ( surf side ) right ? and whats about your speed ?
Also what you mean about turning my gas tank vent ? where they are and how i turn them ?

Sorry speed I run is between 10.2-10.6 depending on how many peeps are in the boat. Gas tank vent is on the port side of the boat right next to the gas cap. Yes full MLS accept non surf side.

wakeaddict--I got my setup from wakeoutlaws

Full MLS on surf side, 750lb in surf side locker, 450 on side seat, 450 in bow on surf side, then EVERYone, (I mean EVERYONE) in the boat on the surf side, including my 30lb kids, and even my wife stands in the middle and and drives, the wave is GREAT!

you may have to move people around to get it dialed right. good luck

Man that seems like a lot of work just to get a decent surf wake. My Centurion Enzo needs nothing more than just the factory ballast in the rear and I'm looking at a PERFECT wake (both shape and consistency)

I used to be a Malibu dealer for many years and they make a great boat, just not for surfing. You have to add way too much weight to the boat in order to get a decent wake. The wedge doesn't help really at all and no matter how much weight you put in it (doesn't matter where) you will end up with a messy frothy wake that has a so so shape.

The VLX is the only boat that malibu sells without the updated hull. I guess you know in 09 the VLX will also share the updated hull so it will surf great. Adam I agree with you on the older hull but you would change your opinion after getting behind a new 23 or a 09 VLX.

I said the only boat they sell, I guess I should say in the Wakesetter or Sunscape series. Obviously the ride series is a old hull as well.

You should come surf my boat or some of my friends vlx's. Maybe you just didn't know how to wieght them right? It's no enzo but it does the job. Judge for yourself.

we are new to wakesurfing this year but one thing that I noticed made a big difference to our wake size was that we had to be in at least 13-15 foot deep water. We were loaed to the hilt in about 10-11 feet and the wake was not very impressive.....but then as we heade to deeper water to 20feet deep she almost doubled in size.....so maybe thats the problem.
