Are you talking about the strips or the single lights that go through the bottom of the cup holders ? You can get that stuff here ------> http://www.superbrightleds.com/index.htm

Jerry, what color do you want? I'll check my spares drawer.

Otherwise: www.oznium.com, www.besthongkong.com, or superbright are all good options.

Just wrap your existing cupholder with LED tape and raise it up with a clear 3/8" plex ring. Machine cut the plex ring, laser cut will leave it clear where you can see the LEDs. I had to sand the laser rings TAP cut for me.

Ponte I've seen someone put in the single led lights into the drain holes in the cupholders. They shine up and look sweet, you can find them at superbrightleds.com with the built in resistors.

So I'm planning on taking the boat to the July 1st fireworks across the border and to the local fireworks down the the lake and would love to bling out the interior a bit. How hard are these LED's to put in and wire?

super easy, especially if you get the ones that have the resisters built in. The best way is to just solder the led's to a 5v or 12v power source, whichever the resisters are made for. soldering is super easy.

can you put them on a speaker wire?

if so, will they be lit constantly or just when it is getting an audio signal?

probably a stupid question.

if you wire it to your speaker it will only light when getting signal like you said. On mine I just spliced into my existing interior lighting and hooked all of em up that way and by doing that I didn't have to wire a separate switch. It was cake I installed 16 leds in various places in the boat in under 4 hours

Ponte, I put mine in the drain plugs and have them wired to the interior light switch. It's very easy and looks great especially when their lighting up a beer!

What would you guys recommend to splice the 30ga wires on the Led's into say a 16ga speaker wire used for power/ground?
Old     (mikeski)      Join Date: Aug 2003       07-13-2008, 11:08 PM Reply
I use the cheapest 22 gauge speaker wire I can find. I am running 12V ribbon LEDs, the thin wire helps to get the voltage down from 14V that it runs when the alternator is pumping juice. I definately recommend against upsizing the wire. With LEDs voltage drop is your friend.

What about connectors to connect the 30ga wire to the 22ga wire?

dafinman, i may be wrong but i believe the best option is to solder them together and use heat shrink over it

Use telephone wire connectors.
