Okay, my father in law is going to get a new boat for the lake and he knows I really want a wake boat...we've been pulling behind a seadoo and there is zero wake for progressing... He has given me a $40K budget...give or take 2 grand if needed. I've been looking at the Moomba's as they seem to have a lot of bang for the buck. I have been researching boats for the last year but without setting foot in any of them I need your advice as to what you have owned or own now and how reliable they have been etc.

We are looking for a smaller boat, around the 22 foot mark. Ideally hold 10 people or more but even 8 won't kill us if the price is right.

Suggestions? Even left over boats might be the way to go to save a little money.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

You can't go wrong with a Moomba. I have an older Moomba, (2000) that is 23 ft. long and throws a great wake. It fits 10.

You can probably walk out of the door with a brand new Mobius for $40k, very affordable, reliable, and great performing boat. I've had the boat for 3 years and have had no problems what so ever, (knock on wood).

Make lowball offers on newer used boats (2003+). You should be able to get into a nice Malibu, or Supra for that money with cash leftover for gas. It's a boat buyer's market!

I second schooledrider, I would get a Supra Launch, Malibu or mayber even a used MC or SAN for that money. It is a buyers market and that is how I might be going soon because there are lot of people trying to unload some very nice boats.

I third the used route....regardless of the brand boat you get....... Unless you could get a STEAL on a leftover somewhere.......

I have a SAN and it is not the boat for you considering #'s you want to take out.... You can also take the older X-Star/X-2/X-1/205V hull off your list on the used market...again considering the numbers you want to take out....

IMO, I am not sure I would want to regularly take out 8-10 people in a sub 22' boat....

I love my new Moomba but you will be hard pressed to find a new one with any decent options for 40 unless you go with an outback V. Used is the way to go. It is a buyers market and dealers are willing to work with people. Especially if you can find used boats from a dealer.

you should be able to get a VLX for that kind of money.

Buy ours!!!! $39k OBO. Check out my Profile. 2005 Malibu V-Ride. It's posted on the site. Not sure how much transporting it coast to coast would be. Probably costly, but might split it with you.

Used Nautique or used X-Star/X-2. If you're looking for big wake don't bother going anywhere else.

I have an awesome deal on an '07 Tige 24Ve, it is a very nice boat and I have had it priced at $52500. My new boat is coming in this week and this one has to go. I will take $43500 but I am keeping this trailer for my new one. This one will have the trl under my new one and it is a nice trlr w/alum wheels. This is a killer deal as this boat is $86K new and a cash deal on one is going to be around $76-77K. Has just under 200 hrs, has 2 yrs left on warranty, BIG kicker system with 2 amps and diamond fusion tower speakers. It is a VERY nice boat and best deal anywhere!

you can find a nice 06 22ve tige for that. will hold 10 peeps just fine. the boat shane davis has is a fricking awsome boat at one hell of a deal its a little more than you wanted to spend but its a great boat will hold 10 peeps with room to spare. i have been trying to talk my wife into letting me try to upgrade because i love the boat shane has for sale and its close to me but shes not going for it. but every day i see that boat for sale i just want to buy it and deal with the wife after the fact.

Thanks Kevin, It is by far the best deal on here and $10K below what I should be selling it for. Most 06's are still high $40's to over $50K. I'm just realistic, the market is slow and I don't need 2 boats and would rather see someone buy it and have some fun.

thanks for all the input guys, I would love to buy that boat from you Shane but I don't think he is going to release the funds until after this summer. He does business for a very wealthy family around here and he is waiting it out through this summer to see what progresses. Sounds like he will buy this winter :-( so, unless the boat happens to still be there then I might be able to pick it up.

I'm just trying to get the input so I can keep him informed as to what we should get...I'm hoping that the more I keep a bug in his ear, the more he may be apt to just buy one now :-) Not sure how well that will fly.

Thanks again for all the input, I will mention the boats to him and see if he jumps at all...I'm not going to get over anxious just yet.

I do understand completely Christopher. I'll bet you are ready for a nice wake compared to the waverunner but hey, it is something to get water time with. We have one and use it with my 4 & 6 yr old girls which is great as they aren't intimidated by the bigger wake and much easier to circle back to them. Just keep in touch and we'll see how it goes. I also have several friends in the area who buy a new one about every year and they sell their used one's worth the money so if my Tige` doesn't work there's always a great deal around. Take care

AGREED! for $40k you should be able to find a pretty good boat from the list above. personally i would go with the X1 (or older XSTAR/X2...the 205V hull). it throws a sick wake, and can legally have 12 people in it if need be, although 7 or 8 people is far more comfortable.

If you/a person is buying used mc and cc have great resale, followed closely by malibu and then supra and that happens for a reason.

you know, you can get a brand new malibu i ride for 38,000, with ballast and perfect pass. i dont know how it compares to the others, i havent rode on it yet, probably nowhere near as good as that tige, that sounds like a great deal, but the i ride is probably what we will end up with next summer (that or the vride)
good luck

That Mobius looks like a great deal... Below the 40K mark would be ideal :-)

The SAN 210 would suit us perfect...it will hold 10 if needed but up to 8 comfortably.

This is one of the hardest things...trying to pick a boat is a real pain.

Thanks for the info.

Are you talking about a new 210? Not sure 40Kish is going to happen for a New 210... If you are talking the old 210, nope....it will not hold 8 comfortably. I have had an '03 since new and 6 is plenty for the boat. Yes, it will hold ten 10 year old girls....but they might have to leave their gear at the dock.

I love my boat and have no plans on getting something else....but it is not the boat for someone looking to take out 8-10 people on a regular basis....or even on occasion for that matter IMO....

The moomba LSV is rated for 13 people and it will fit 10 comfortably, I put 12 in it one time and it was a little tight though. I've got the wakeboarding prop on mine so it still pulled up easily with full ballast and 12 ppl. I ride behind an 02 210 SAN pretty often and any more than 6-8 ppl gets very crowded, can't beat the wake though. The moomba also has a ton of storage space so even when there are 10 ppl riding in the boat it's not cluttered at all. I've never personally seen or ridden behind a sanger but I've saw alot of good reviews on them. The centurions ride the best in choppy water, and the surf wake is great but the deep v in the hull tends to make the wake little the smaller IMO...
