Similar to a air raley but inverted. Come in heelside, pop, let the board fly out under you, spin backside 180 and hold that position so your fully extended with your face looking to outer space, then revert the 180 and prepare for landing. Possible?

so like a backside crypt? it would be cool no doubt... seems like it would be pretty dang hard to land that blind coming off a raley/911... but whoever tries and don't make it will most likely go to the hospital... sounds like death to he who doesn't make it... risk vs reward... good luck (Message edited by wakeX2wake on March 11, 2009)

I thought about this a long time ago, the problem would be stoping your rotation. Cus then it becomes an s bend. I think you are more likely to see it on a cable than behind boat. Or makin it a raley with a backside shifty. Great name though cus a sloppy raley is called a star gazing

yeah, def the hardest part of this trick would be stopping yourself and then initiating the revert back.

I think if you hucked a 911 super hard you could get over and back...but I don't know about: out - roll over - stop - come back It would have to be something more fluid, but getting rolled over is possible.

Why don't you just call it what it is Backside Stargazed Raley to Whiplash? Done, no questions as to what you just saw.

Not that I have any experience with raleys at all, but it might be easier to just keep the rotation going, so instead of rewinding it would be more like a super slow layed-out three. The rewind just seems like it would kill any flow.

I've seen Josh Rice do that on a cable. If I understand the trick correctly. It's like a 911 to blind right?

I wasnt really serious. Id love to see the trick done with serious style but my gut tells me its nearly impossible, i just dont see how you could hold yourself inverted and then revert back for your landing, that would take precise timing and balance and incredible strength.

A 911 only has 90* more to rotate to be upside down, I think that is do-able... holding it there, no, but getting there and back, yes. It isn't that much more that is needed to get "upside down" on the trick

I believe the common courtesy would be to let whoever lands it first name it. Go for it with the cameras rolling and 'Astronomer" it is AFTER you land it, but until then......

I like the creativity, but I agree with Andy--even the best would get suck and then destroyed.

Yeah it just seems like you would get stuck. I can tell you from Trying to learn S-Bends that getting stuck upside down like that doesnt work out well.

what about just going for the upside down raley, then into a backflip. I mean as long as you're upside down, arch your back and see what happens. Be sure to have someone video it. Either a cool trick or ... something awful!

What if you tried it toeside? Like doing a toeside raley, but turning your upper body to the sky along with you're legs. That way you would only have the second 180 to worry about.... Still would be incredibly tough though!

wkbrdrchad - if you are describing what i think you are this is not really a new trick. batwings done REALLY tail heavy (ex. Dallas Friday) have the toes-pointed-up twisted look. pretty much the stargaze equivalent with the raley and i personally think this looks sloppy and bad.

Tom, agreed. You gotta stay on that front Foot to get the batwing to turn your body upwards.
