Heading to Powell in a few weeks and was looking for pictures of how people are towing their wakeboard boats behind the houseboat. From what I have read, it's a bad idea to tow the boat through the "narrows". This will be my 2nd trip there, first trip was with a veteran and I tried to learn as much as I could but it's been 2 years now and we didn't tow the boats behind the houseboat. I don't plan on taking the houseboat into canyons or anything, just hoping to park it in a cove somewhere and dock it for a few days.

Also, since Castle Rock Cutoff is open, do we have to travel through "The Narrows" now? Or am I confused as to what the narrows refers to? Looks like it's the area between Wahweap and Antelope Point (hopefully that is the right area).

Hey Timmy,

I've towed through the narrows and it can get pretty rough, especially when the lake was really low. We actually had an older jet ski get swamped and start to sink, though we saved it, it was useless the rest of the trip. Since the water levels are nice and high this year and the Castle Rock Cutoff is open, there is no need to go through the narrows especially if you are launching from Wahweap. It will save you a good 1:30 - 2 hours by avoiding the narrows.

We usually tow 2 ski boats behind the houseboat until we get to where we're going, then untie and take the boats to go and scout for a beach.
