So me and my friends graduated this year and have not all went on a senior trip yet. Instead of going to mexico i think we might spend a long weekend at the lake together before we all go our separate ways. So what i'm thinking is we will camp at lake o' the pines in east texas. We were thinking we could just anchor the boat good where we are camping over night. Are there any drawbacks to leaving the boat sitting in the water all night. This is a pretty safe lake, so i don't think security is an issue. Besides we will be camping right by it and will probably be up most of the night. I actually like the idea of the boat on the water than on the trailer in the parking lot. But i have never done this before so i just wanted to get you guys input. It would be fun to wake up at the crack of dawn and wakeboard, chill all day then hit it again in the evening. I need to get my dad to trust me with the boat for the weekend too

I wouldn't think it would be a problem. Lots of people leave boats tied up in marinas, this shouldn't be any different. Make sure it's tied up good and have fun!

How is that lake? Do you know if they have any cabins for rent? We're in the Houston area and always looking to explore different lakes. We just made the trek to Lake Amistad last weekend. Awesome lake.

I have done it both ways and find that I worry less when the boat is anchored out then on the trailer in the lot where some drunk guy can mess with my stuff. Just anchor with the bow out and then tie the stern off on the shore and you should be good to go.

Taft-lake o' the pines is probably the nicest in my area but its nothing to special. If you went i would go during the week, you will have the whole lake to yourself. If your in this area i would go to caddo lake instead. Its like an hour away from me so i dont go very often. But its a pretty sick lake. Or come during to winter and go to perky. Its a power plant lake so it will be warm which is a cool experience.

does anyone know if there are any legal issues with anchoring your boat over night?
