It is time for a new rope and I have read other topics but have not decided on what is best for me. What is the best non tangle rope? Is there one made that comes with 2.5 ft. sections that is a good non-tangle?

Well I am all about Helium the ropes and Handle are great. However I need to warn you that there is no such thing as a tangle free rope.

Gene - Don't get a Straightline. I get knots and figure 8's all the time no matter how I wrap it.

well if you hold onto the handle and throw the line in the water and drag it from time to time that will keep it winding up really nice and it wont figure 8 on you. with that being said i just got a new coated line from proline and have been really happy with it. But i had really good luck with the ronix R-8 line and have always been a fan of the a-lines. But if its a coated line your wanting gene stay away from helium worst coated line i ever delt with. dangled like a bitch and felt like a bungee cord to me. but thats just me

Gene - I have both the helium and the accurate A-line. Both will tangle some if they are not wound up right. I really think that tangle free is a user issue and not a rope issue. Example, Brad cannot wind up my A-line to save his life while I never have an issue with it. The key is to twist the rope with your finger tips as you wind it up. Then when you unwind it you have to make sure you lay it to where it unwinds from the top and not from underneath.

What color is it Chuck? Do you know the model? I understand you should take care of them but many ae better than others and I was looking for the best overall experience with a mainline remaining tangle free.

What about that Proline Spiderwire mainline that was on Boardersbestbuy.com just a little while back? Anybody have experience with that thing? Or the Faction mainline? (Message edited by gene3x on June 30, 2009)

Accurate lines all the way. The only way to keep the straight line from not tangling is to cut the coating off. I heard of others doing this and it works. I never had a problem with Accurate lines. The only reason I bought a SL is because my Accurate got ran over and my local shop only carried SL.

I have had nothing but problems with my Straightline...I just can't train it to coil right for the life of me. I've tried de-stressing it backwards after we ride, and no difference. Once you ride though, it's great...no elasticity, it's a cable. But, not worth the hassle. I'm thinking about cutting the coating like duffy said.

I also have an Accurate Fuse mainline and have yet to have any problems (other than when I wrapped my first one around the prop, lol.)

Straight Line makes an 83' coated rope, very hard to knot, but it will tangle.... the take-offs are 68' - 7' - 5' -3'

LMAO joe that was so funny. i ride shorter then my dad does. and my dad wanted a red to match his handle (ronix Totem) and the red line doesnt go to the length i like. so my uncle and i use a different line with a smaller handle. i want to say the handle is accurate? it says byerly on it in red though. the totem is a amazign handle, its so soft. but its a little big for my liking.

Garret, it seems dumb to cut the coating off after spending the extra coin for the coating, but the coating sucks. it never coils up right and its more like wire than rope, plus it cracks in spots. I just didn't want to spend $ when I could made do with what I had.

Are these new 2009 SL ropes you guys are talking about? I know the old coatings did suck, but after seeing a new one in a shop the other day it seems as if they are not quite as stiff and might avoid tangles a little better.

The one I just cut the coating off of was a 07 maybe 08? They very well could be better, I hope they are because nobody seems to carry the Accurate lines local. Which by the way what happened to Accurate did Hyperlite by them?

I like the Accurate Zebra Jacket line. It doesn't tangle easily and it floats. (Message edited by tahoeguy7 on July 01, 2009)
