I'm thinking about NOT winterizing this year. We don't have that many days here that would crack a block, and I am planning to ride as much as possible through late Fall.
Two questions:

Who's used compartment heaters?

And just how cold does it need to be to actually crack a block?

I use two drop lamps. Only problem with using any electric heat source is if your power goes out.

I've read on this site it needs to be 32 or below for four or five days in a row to actually crack the block.

Your block can only crack if the water inside it freezes. As long as you drain the water you should be O.K.
