What was your first boat? Post pics if you have them!
My family had a 1991 18ft starcraft sport and fishing boat. It actually put out a decent wake.

No pics but 1st boat was a 98 Moomba Boomerang. Fun boat to drive but no interior space. Didnt last 2 seasons before being upgraded.

(date?... ancient for sure) 9' aluminum boat with 9.9hp Evinrude. Dad would just pull us in the water from a rope tied to the back because we didn't have any boards or anything. Was really fun, then we started using boogey boards haha

That melted when our house burned down, and we got a 1974 Starcraft trihull 15' with 85hp outboard

1986 Eliminator Daytona 21'/235hp Evinrude. 90+ Mph, no wake at all. Good for barefooting, a little slalom, that's about it.

Half of it is now at the bottom of the mississippi river. We split it in half jumping over some wake from a barge...those barges throw out a killer wake :-) Ill try to scan in my picures of the wreckage. And, no alchohol was consumed at the time... :-)

I am almost embarassed to post this, but my first boat was a 1969 16' Glaspar with a Johnson 55 outboard. It was all I could afford at 14. I did "upgrade" to a 1988 14' Bayliner Capri with a 50hp Force motor, that couldn't even pull me up. Dont miss those days......

Immaculate 1979' Tahiti jet boat with a 454.... That was the best boat and in many ways I miss it. And yes I used to wakeboard behind it. Went through about 4 lines a season b/c if the rope even touched the headers it was history.

Mine was 13' Whaler with a 20 Merc when I was 12 and we mostly kneeboarded and slalomed (dropping a ski). Put a 50 Merc on it after a few years and I had the baddest 13' Whaler in South Florida :-) It was'nt much but it was all we had and we made the most of it. There are times I really miss those days where my biggest worry in life was getting up the money for another 6 gallon gas tank.

I started out on a 13ft Tri hull Dory... 1984 i think. We had a 30 HP yamamha on there to start with te went to the 40hp... Looking back they were some good times.

Whatever happened to simple boating?! drop her in at almost any state of tide, spray off with the hose and back in the garage. I love modern boating and am priveliged to drive a SAN but its a hell of a lot more work and hassle!

I've brought this thread out of the archives because my dad just sent me a pic of our first boat. That's me in the driver's seat some 30 years ago. Not even sure what brand it was. I just know that we did a lot of bailing to keep it afloat and I'm sure there are plenty of pictures floating around of us getting towed back to the dock!! :-)

Nice picture and story Dave :-)

I had a partner on my first boat which was a 1970 Glastron squirt boat with a 455. Owned it for less then three weeks as we had a near death experience in it.

OK, I don't have any pics, but my first boat was a 5 man raft. I built a wooden floor for it and we set lounge chairs in it back to back. I built a mount for a trolling motor and set the battery in the floor. We used it for fishing for a while before moving out of the getto arena into an aluminum boat.

When I started wakeboarding in 1996 I went out on a boat search I found a 17ft 1966 Larson tri hull with a 1968 evinrude push button shift 80hp. The boat was gutted for fishing but the guy wouldn't let me take it until I saw it run. 350$ later we were riding,I sold it to a friend and he uses it today.

1973 Glastron GT-160 w/115 hp Merc. I bought it in 94, sold it to a friend who ran it until 2000 when the merc gave out. Another friend bought it and has fully restored it and mounted a newer Merc.

1971 13' Boston Whaler with 1971 25hp Evinrude(2 6 Gal gas tanks) We kneeboarded behind this and slalom skied for about a year, then we started standing up on the kneeboard, then used a surfboard, then bought "The Skurfer". Then my parents bought a 1994 21'Wahoo with a 150hp Mercury O/B. After college I bought an '01 SAN which I sold on friday and bought an '03 SANTE. I still have every boat except for the '01 SAN.
