I was wondering if anyone here has purchased a new MC through Copes since they announced they will no longer be carrying MC?

Here is the old thread:

Makes you wonder if you'll ever be able to get them to do warranty work. I'd heard it was pretty hard already. Some smokin' prices though...

So, no one on this site has taken advantage of the deals at Copes? I am just curious as to how good the deals are.

If your curious to the point of buying go in and see what they'll put together for you.

Curious yes - to the point of buying No. I did think about it for a few days but just can not justify selling my X-30 and parting with $25K for a new X-45. Does not make sense especially when we want to build a house on our property in Lake Chelan.

My buddy got a phone call from Cope's from when we stopped by their booth at the boat show. He was looking at the X2, the salesman on the phone said they were blowing all the boats out. They said they could give him an X2 for $65K LOL!!!! What a joke.

$65k!? Were there some gold bricks under the drivers seat or something?
Old     (baschralper)      Join Date: Dec 2001       04-19-2008, 4:38 PM Reply
nu bu...I think your friend might be embellishing the price a bit....or a LOT for that matter.

I know for a fact they aren't selling the X-2's for 65K.

Seabass or maybe they thought he was an idiot and didn't know what they cost?

i've heard mid-50's on 07 X-2 holdovers that were priced high 50's to low $60's

i think the better deals were on the X45's

nu bu....could be? That would actually be the salesman in the idiot category, though...for sure not your buddy.

X Stars were around the 65k range. A little less for the MCX and a little more for the 6 liter. I almost bought one, but I couldn't get rid of my boat at a decent price...
Old     (prostartjh)      Join Date: Nov 2006       04-20-2008, 7:46 PM Reply
$65K is not bad for an X-Star. I could probably sell my boat for a decent price but I am having a hard time giving up the additional $25K or so for a new X-45 on top of the proceeds from my X-30.
Old     (deltaridah)      Join Date: Aug 2007       04-20-2008, 8:41 PM Reply
thats were the x stars started then they wanted 10% on top of that for freight they paid and to rig it. bascially junk fees. so out the door with tax is still 77k

How can norcal sell stars for 61k when they quoted my buddy close to 80k last summer.

How much profit is there in a boat? What about the schmuck that paid 80k last summer?
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       04-21-2008, 10:37 AM Reply
Maybe the X in question is a demo boat with hours? Or maybe it's an 07?

The price quoted above by Copes are not anymore competitive than Norcal MC. Even with their new-found motivation to blow out MCs.

Hay nu bu, you can buy a Malibu-Bic for a little less than $63K equipped with a picnic basket.

Are you talking about the X-35 with the fridge and easybake oven inlcuded?? Do you have a pic of this Malibu-Bic sounds pretty sick.

Thats one thing we can agree on. Sorry no kitchen needed in any ski boats nor any bathroom toilet with vanity and mirror. What a joke.

Norcal MC had a big sale last weekend.

I took a look at the X15 not a bad looking boat. MSRP was $73k, they had it marked at $68k and said it would sell for $63k.

When I compare it to the Malibu VLX which are selling in the $50's, I gotta laugh. The X15 shouldn't be more than $50k. MC is way out of the market, no wonder Copes is having hard time unloading them....

I'm surprised Malibu hasnt come out with a fridge to go with the homey feeling wall to wall carpet thats on every model.
I say get rid of the X35's optional fridge and replace it with a towel warmer. Now that would be nice. A fridge is a waste to me as well. Whats next a microwave?

Eh, it is what it is.... MC's have always been the most expensive. Right up there with Correct Crafts. They're great boats though and worth a look for anyone that spends a ton of time in their boat.

A loaded VLX is a great boat, too. Good luck getting one in the 50's, though. You could probably find one of last years boats, or one thats optioned strange, but a loaded '08 VLX is going to get you very close to that $60k price range. They've very comperable to the X15 in terms of price and options.

Nor-Cal MC is slinging boats right now. There are some great deals on the left over '07s. If you want a Star, now is the time. Once those boats are gone the deals are over. We're trying to sell our '07 right now for mid 60's. It'll be a tough sell until the new '07s are gone. Once they're sold out mid 60's will look like a great buy compared to 80 for a new one.

They're expensive boats, but people still buy them. It's like asking why would you buy a Mercedes when you could buy a Taurus. Remember that, just like cars, the boat industry has multiple price tiers.

That's a good idea billy, a towel warmer (kinda already do with the engine tray) but a lifejacket/wetsuit warmer would be nice. I do like the drain plug in the cabin area though it's a must on a boat that dips the nose all the time. Have to do something with all that water in there.

Your a shotty driver if you dip your bow of the boat in the water. I bet nu bu done it a few times with his Malibu. How else is he going to get feet wet?

I don't dip the bow, so I don't need the drainplug in the cabin area like you do Snork.

Hmmm, I was wondering what that was, I thought it was some form of vent. Never used it to drain water. Maybe it there for when you remove the carpet and want to wash the inside of the boat out, so the water can go somewhere other than sitting on the floor with nowhere to go. Thats one for MasterCraft.
