We will be picking up our '04 Lightning this weekend and I was wondering if anyone had any advice, specifically if I should ask the dealer anything during walk-through? Should I do any sort of special break-in? This will be our first inboard, so any sort of help would be great. Thanks.

Just picked up my 04 SSV. I recommend documenting any thing you find wrong and have the dealer get the parts on order. There is a break-in procedure called out in your owners manual, follow it. Word of warning, inboards handle very differently at low speeds that I/Os or outboards. You need to be in gear to have response from the rudder going forwards. In reverse you will have no control, however, the boat will turn one way or the other depending on prop rotation.

Ryan,
Beside's the obvious fit and finish any scratches etc. Have your dealer take you to the lake. I think this should be mandatory weather permitting especially if this is your first inboard. If there are any problems they will show up at the lake not sitting on the dealers lot! Ok so if your dealer won't do this for you check to make sure all the switches work on the dash. Courtesy lights, horn, blower etc.
