I am looking at either getting a pair of pro 80's or A pair of entity 1010's. It'd be about the same price for either of them and trying to figure out if the two pro 80's would put out the same volume as a pair of 1010's. I don't want the "x" sounds better. I have heard both but never side by side and they sounds unreal. Just wondering if it would take 4 pro 80's to match the 4 10in drivers or is it to much of a orange to apple comparison?

Getting smoking deal on either one. But need to move kind of quickly if I do anything.

hey daniel. the big part about any set up is if its set up right ie right amp right tuning. people know that im a huge nvs fan. with that said. ive heard a lot of wet sound set ups and didn't care for them much. people hear things differently. but you are right about it would prob take 4 80's to be close to the 1010's if not the same. it has a lot to do with the surface area of the driver. a 10 will out performe a 8. now 4 10"'s compared to 4 eights. you'll prob get a much harsher sound with the 4 eights " too much highs." with the 4 tens you'll get a better balance of mids to highs. im sure you'll get a lot of good info on both products with this thread. just get what you like that looks better to you. they'll rip no matter what. good luck

heard them all side by side, 4 80's, pair of 485's vs the 1010's. 1010's are louder. I prefer the sound of the 485's better. the 80's are still a little "tinny" soudnign to me. You can easily push 600-800 RMS to each 1010 pod....they will freakin scream!

All the same amp.

I have "heard" good things about the NVS stuff.

I had 4 pro 80's used an EQ to "soften" the highs and "add" a little midbass.

NVS all the way...they rock!

NVS 1010 all the way. I think we're rocking the tyrants right now. We've had them on 4 different boats. I haven't heard anything louder. If your purpose is to rock out while you ride, I don't think you can do any better.

Also, the owners provide great support. They are riders. And they support the local wakeboarding events.

Hey J-Rod I have a customer that wants to put NVS Tyrants on a Malibu with the illusion tower, do you know if the Tyrants can mount to that tower?

I have the Tyrants... and the heavy duty construction etc... is just crazy good! I took them over the WetSounds... but I did add the WS420... nothing against WetSounds... but they are less costly... and at the end of the day... you can't really compare the NVS with WetSounds... they are different...

I don't know of any direct testing between an Entity 1010 vs. Wetsounds.

Both are great speakers. The Wetsounds Pro-485s are my choice from the lineup, probably most comparable to the 1010's.

After spending years around both I don't know anybody with 1010's that is unhappy nor anybody with Pro-485's that is unhappy. Every now and then you will find somebody in the early stages of tuning or with a system that is improperly adjusted that may be unhappy but most come around and end up liking what they have.

I know the owners of both companies, great support all around.

I liked the sound of the Wetsounds Pro-485's, liked the ease of removability, and liked the shape of the enclosure so that's what I bought.

Mastercraft boats have lots of machined almuminum, the Entity's look like they belong. Nautiques have smoother lines and I find the Wetsounds look more suitable. Not sure what boat you have but look into that as well.

Well unless someone comes out with a sun faded fiberglass enclosure with sharp edges it won't fit my old war horse supra. So the 485's are more compareable to the 1010's? The deal is a local dealer has a set of pro 80's that were on a boat that the buyer didn't want so technically they are used and the socks are faded but they have never been played. So they are cutting me a sweet deal.
But I know of a used set of 1010's that I can get even cheaper. So trying to figure out what I should do.

Or just weld up my own enclosures and make A pair of 1010's based off duanes old posts.
Maybe should send a check to him for his engineering of my project.

Peter,
I don't have a customer identified as the owner of an XS tower owner but we have done a fit up on the XS. Like the X we mount the Prodigy or Deviant on the round crossing tube. On the X, no changes are needed. You do end up with a slight outward angle (about 10 degrees which is not a negative at all). On the XS you will need to offset the mounting clamps .75 inches to achieve the same result. Notify us ahead and we will accomodate you.
In both cases, you will end up with an open space between the enclosures of about 17". Keep in mind the hang height of only 8.60 inches.

Make your own 1010's...

been there done that. After all was said and done they didn't sound that great and it was a ton of work. I think I made something like $2/hour by making them myself, and they still were nothing close to 1010's. Today's 1010s are very different from Duane's original red PVC tube speakers.

Duane, are they reversable for beached use?

Well guy who had the 1010's seemed to sketchy.
So got the 80's from h20 in stillwater. I will say those guys are great and took care of me.
Now to figure out what I want to do with my amps.
Currently have 3 different amp manufacturers and debating just going out and buying all new to match.
Or just hide em all and change out my tower amp for amp suited for the 80's.
