I've got a kit from discount auto parts for vinyl. The guys at the MC shop said in would work fine, but I haven't done it yet. I'm scared to f it up.

I bought one of those kits from the auto parts store and it sucks. Just get it professionally repaired because the do it yourself kit won't last very long at all.

yeah the do it yourself kit sucks. just find some one that does it out of their house and they are usually cheap and good.

I used the do-it-yourself kit on several places. It works great! BUT, you have to practice with it. The first spot I did on my engine cover sucked - peeled right off. I fixed a spot on another seat later on - you can't even see it. The trick is to get a lot of heat right over the spot you're fixing, but nowhere else. Use the tip of a clothes iron at a sharp angle to focus the heat right on the tear - but be careful not to scorch the area nearby. By the way, all my fixes were white only so no color mixing required..

I would get the car done professionally, because you will probably never tear it again. On my boat though, I patch them myself, simply because of the extreme use. I am resigned to the fact that I need to replace the seats before I sell, so why waste money until then?

For small tears Krazy Glue works good to seal it up. I have seen it done to perfection. On my boat, however, I have the perfect fix...warranty!
