I have a Kicker zx650 and a small Kicker amp for my sub, I am planning to mount them up under the pass side storage next to the walkway,

I have heard some people mount them to the board all the way forward which would basically be the back to the open bow seat, and have heard others replace the netted storage board against the hull with a piece of plywood and mount them there.

Any input??

Advantages of the backing board from the bow seat would be ease of installation, 8 screws and I'm done, but the zx650 is pretty big and not sure if I could get both on there and all wiring would be exposed, and I'm not a fan of screwing holes into the boat

Advantage of replacing the net storage board with plywood would be I could hide all the wiring behind it, but then when there are a bunch of towels and beach bags etc. in there they would be up against the amps and could that be a heating issue/fire risk???

Thanks for any info, I want to do it once the right way

I have a 2003 V230 and I mounted all three amps on the far back wall. One of the amps is a LA audio 700 ( made by kicker) prob about the same size. To cover the wires I made an amp cover the same size as the back wall. I cut holes to fit the amps and used 2x1 trim board around the sides. Once carpeted, the carpet made the amps fit snug and hold the backing in place and hid all the wiring.
Im out of town for the week otherwise I would take some pics for you. All pretty easy though and it only took me an afternoon to build.
Good Luck

I have 3 in my 215, one is clearly seen in the pic, then you can see the one end of the big one it runs down the gunnel of the boat behind the passenger seating area. I also have another amp mounted directly across from the one you can see it on the interior wall. I wouldnt do it any other way, even when we fill the area up with gear we never have any heating issues and when ive submarined the nose everything seems to stay nice and dry since they are off the floor.

Coop, what size is that box for the L7? I can't quite imagine how that works in there. I have hoses and a cover back there on my boat they also put my heater back there but obviously don't have yours there. Nice shoes by the way!

Scott, I have one of mine mounted on the back wall in the driver foot well and one mounted on top of my sub also in the foot well. All of this is behind a false wall. My third amp is mounted in the passenger cargo area where I built a panel for it.

The L7s dont require as big of box as you may think, It does run to the seat back and i dont have a heater. Here is a pic of the box under the driver footwell.

LOL yeah those arent my shoes, thats G money! Im up here in the country, I wont be wearing shoes like that for 4 more years lol

Oh wow you cut your seat base out to make room for the 15 thats crazy but it turned out great. I guess looking at the picture of the port side storage it's not as deep back as it appears. At first glance it looked as though you didn't lose really any storage.

Here is mine, it is a 230, but gives you another option.

Also installed by Clay at the former Sound Illusions!
