Indmar Help

I am going to help a friend today get her boat ready. One thing I'm doing is changing the oil. I have a Mercruiser and have the OM. She doesn't. Can anyone tell me what oil to use? If I use the same oil (SAE 30W) as I use in my engine, will that be fine?

Robb, They recommend Pennzoil Marine 15w / 40. I can never find that brand, so I buy Rotella 15/40 at Walmart and have no problems in either boat I have owned. It is a approved brand from Indmar.

Robb, our local Walmart sells the Pennzoil Marine 15w/40. It's not with the automotive oil, but with the boat and fishing supplies.

Randy, I have searched 5 walmarts in the tulsa area (including with the boat and fishing supplies) and have never been able to find it.

Why?

insuranceman, guess I got lucky. This store is in Winston-Salem, NC. Bought it and changed the oil when I winterized my bought this winter. Found it by accident.

My marina used to sell it, but now tell me UAP has discontinued it.
