I just picked up a 2008 X-15 Salt Water Series. Love the boat but have been having some overheating issues. Pretty much after i have pulled a rider and go back to pick them up and shut off the engine so they can come back on board the engine gets very hot, by the time i turn on the engine to pull another rider the engine is about 190 degrees sometimes the alarm goes off not usually though. As soon as i start moving the temp goes down again to 160 or so. I have checked all fluids and everything seems to be normal. Is this normal or should I get it checked out??

Check your water pump impeller. How to do, depends on motor you've got. Head over here to get advice directly from MC-fanatics:

www.tmcowners.com

(search water pump, or register and post for assist)

I would have it checked out by the dealer. Get everything fix and taken care of the first year. Even the little things, its all covered. After that its only the engine and drive train. I have an XStar with the mcx in it and never had any issues with overheating.

"do the saltwater series have closed cooling?"

Yes.

The impeller is circulating the fluid like a car would. You're not running it dry, and you're not sucking up any foreign objects through the intake like most other boats. Hard to believe it would be the impeller, but who knows.

It 190 really hot?

If it cools down after you restart, I would say its probably not an issue. But, like others have said, at least talk to the dealer to see if this is normal.

Makes sense for it to heat up while you stop. No water moving thru the engine or across the heat exchanger. fire it up and both begin to cool the engine.

Check your coolant level. I don't think the boat has a coolant level sensor. Fluid could be low.

your impellor still pumps fresh water, but you do need to get it to the dealer.

I have a 08 saltwater x2 with the mcx. Mine runs around 180 normally. you probably have a air bubble in the block. make sure the heat exchanger is full with the safe antifreeze type.
