I need to replace my sub (older JL) and was considering the 12w3v3 I have a fiberglass non ported enclosue that works well that I'd like to reuse. I would be feeding the sub with 300wats
Any input would be appreciated!!

you won't be dissapointed with that sub.

Also you could look into the RF P3's

I have the 10W3 being pushed by a JL 500 watt amp. You would probably need a bigger box because that sub is HUGE!!! Go to the JL website and you can download the specs for the required volume of a non-ported and ported box. You'll also see that you'll need to go with a 1000 watt amp.

Jesse seriously, did you even read his post. That sub will not take the punishment of a 1000 watt amp. Huge? Compared to what, a W0 or W1?

Oops my bad. I always get my old sub from my new one mixed up... Now I have the 10W7. Chris, you're gonna be fine with that amp but you might want to double check the jlaudio.com and they have a pdf of the box specs. This is what I found
Recommended Sealed Enclosures
Subwoofer 12W3v3-2
Volume (net int.)1.250 cu. ft. / 35.4 liters
External Dimensions(Width x Height x Depth)
23.0 in. x 14.0 in. x 10.0 in.
584 mm x 356 mm x 254 mm

thank you!! I have a AudioFormz enclousure has a .95 Cu non ported volume. JL calls for 1.25. I looked and the current one I have now also a JL calls for the same size. Will I hurt the sub or ruin the sound quality by running it in a space smaller than recommended?

Fill it about 1/2 way with polyfill, the sub won't know it's in a smaller box.

In the smaller box the woofer will require more power to play lower. It will tend to sound "Boomy" compaired to the same woofer in the correct enclosure. Who knows, you may like boomy...Another option would be to go with a Boston G1 ot G2 12" sub. Optimum enclosure is 1 cubic ft and they both rock well with 300 watts.

Cheers

Im running a W3 12 with JL 500 and it kills it. Have a custom down firing box and it kills it. You will definately like it.
