You know that carfax commercial with the hurricane car? The one where the guy is typing, about the "slight water damage," and then changes it to "new upholstery?"

I wonder what this guy is going to put on his ad.

I should start "boatfax." May save some people some pain.

from another website: "My friend left his 07 Xstar alone at the dock for only 5-6 hours at most came home at around 12:00 and found it on the bottom. Insurance cost to remove boat around $15000. Any ideas of why she went down? Hmmmmmm maybe bilge didn't work...Go figure !"
other details from post:
Ballast was empty, no lead in the boat, plug was in. Possibly a ball valve for the ballast intake that failed.

There has to be more to the story than that.

A simple "She was worth more dead than alive" would have sufficed.

$15k to remove it?? I've seen boats that are sitting on the bottom be brought up by a single person, why so much?

Maybe the neighbors didn't like the stereo system.
Old     (moradaboardin)      Join Date: May 2005       06-03-2008, 10:52 AM Reply
theres gotta be lead in it or it wouldn't sink like that
Old     (ncsuuh)      Join Date: Jan 2007       06-03-2008, 11:18 AM Reply
I think there is lead as well. If there was 1000 lbs of full balast it would just swamp, lead would make it sink like that.
Old     (h20jnky)      Join Date: Mar 2003       06-03-2008, 11:22 AM Reply
maybe it wanted to be a malibu and committed suicide..

The only thing worse than forgetting your drain plugs at home is forgetting to check for the drain plug that you left at home. Ok, well I guess you could be forgetting to realize that you forgot to check for the missing plug that you forgot at home.

oops.

And boats DO sink, or at least MC's can. My buddy's X-80 went for a scuba mission to the bottom of Tahoe.

Malbu's SUB concept fully loaded with torpedoes has been a success, soon available to MC haters around the world in 09

I don't see what the problem is... That is how all X-Stars look when they are sacked out...

A little water over the nose never hurt anyone.

Just turn the key.... and ride... I bet it throws a mean wake.

How did the boat get stuck under the dock? It looks like the poles are on the exterior of the dock making it impossible for something to get stuck underneath...

well i just checked the thread and was gonna ask if it was tidal waters. my brother did the same thing to his boat. it was improperly tied up to the dock and when the tide came in the rear got stuck under the dock.

if you look at the taller poles have protection for not scratching boats, and it doesn't run all the way down it got stuck underneath that.
