Does anyone have any experience what the little red V-Drive light indicates? It says "do not run v-drive if the light is on above 1200rpm". My light is on or flickering at sometimes. What should I check? My boat seems to be running fine, but that flickering light is bothering me.

ours stays off most of the time, but once in a while we get the flickering too... we usually ignor, if it stays on then maybe there is cause for concern....

i would check fluids if everything looks good you should be fine

check the fluid level in the vdrive. If it's flickering above 1200 you're probably low.

Check your Vdirves oil with the dipstick right on top of it. That would scare the hell outta me.

If you have a leaky oil line in the v drive the v drive oil circulating pump could be sucking air so the oil will heat up and eventually fry your v drive or the pump.
Check the hoses on the v-drive for leaks.

It is probably the sensor going out. I've replaced mine twice so far in 7 years with my current boat.

Trace, what sensor are you talking about? Thanks in advance.

On a Walter V-drive, one of these should be screwed into the port side of the V-drive unit.

Is it only flickering below 1200 RPM's??? If so, it is normal. If it remains on after you exceed 1200, you need to research the cause.

Agree with Meathead, mine is always on when slow idling.

SAE 30, should not take that much really. Mine has a slow leak so I have to top it off twice a summer.

Check the level before you replace the sensor.

I had a broken wire (connector) that caused intermitent problems before it broke all the way off.

If its below 1200 then its normal especially for Sangers (always on in neutral)
