trex. It's the composite deck/dock material you can buy at home depot or lowes.

There is another product called Azek ( I think that is the correct spelling) and it is a high density plastic that is used in construction. I do not know if Lowed and HD carry it, but you should be able to get it at a good lumber yard. And you can get it in many different widths even in a 4x8 sheet (I think).... it is white and the wider widths would allow for one piece on a wide rail or box as opposed to 2 pieces of the Trex or other composite decking materials that are only about 6" wide

I am tying to add the link and I do not know if it will work, but try Azek.com and look at trim boards... there are many different sizes and lengths and it is super flexible

try this page it gives all the different sizes that are available, but if you get the long lengths it is hard to carry

ive got a sick spot outside of dallas and even some wood hidden there if anyone in the dallas area wants to build a rail. I tried last year by myself and it really takes more than one person i have found. The pine tree rail rocks btw

high-density polyurethane is the white plastic that OWC, the PWT, etc. uses to cover the rails. its really slick. I'm not sure where to get it though, someone can help you probably

I am not real sure what the price is on the Azek, you could look on their website and find your local reatailer and see....It is not real cheap, but it may be in line with the Trex and you could probably get it in one piece if you are building a wide rail or box

We used to use some plastic like that in our shop for radial arm saw table tops. I think that the stuff that we had was either 3/4" or 1" it is very durable and will handle having nails driven in and removed over and over..... I had suggested the Azek, because I know that it comes in lengths as long as 18' which would make a nice long rail and it comes in many different lengths. A customer of ours used to use it from trim/band boards around decks on the outside just below the decking boards. They also used it on the garage door jambs instead of the usual aluminum wrap, because it is much more durable and they did not have to worry about warranty. the aluminum would get dented or the paint would flake. I am sure that it is the same type material as listed from US Plastic
