best way to remove old registration numbers?

ordered up my new reg numbers from domednumbers.com today. just wondering what's the easiest way to remove the old one's? any tips or tricks? products to use, etc? thanks in advance.

I have found that heat removes most numbers easily then clean the adhesive residue with a solvent.

like denatured alcohol? or like paint thinner? i know i have denatured alcohol around for our granite, but don't think i have any paint thinner. or are talking like acetone? sorry just don't want to have to make another trip to hazordous waste! :-)

blow dryer a few inches away. Heat the numbers and they will peel right off

If the denatured alcohol doesn't work, acetone will. Just keep it away from plastic.

acetone will really help get the "goo" off if they're real old stickers, but like jman said that stuff will take off anything, beware of how hard you're scubbing if its colored gel.

Use "Goo Gone", you can pick it up at Home Depot. By far the easiest.

Goo Gone is useless if the vinyl letters are still on the boat. Use Goo Gone to remove remaining adhesive.

heat for the stickers, then buff the rest with your usual cleaner wax. dont know if this is the "right way" to do it. but thats how i did mine this year and it worked perfectly.

Heat gun works in second, and use rubbing alc to get the adhesive off.

finger nail polish remover (aka easily accessible acetone) works well with a plastic scraper of some sort. probably should wax after that though.

second on cosmocat. paint thinner/varsol is one of the best products ever invented. wont damage the paint, but always put some polish on just incase, with any of the products. all depends on how old the gel coat is.
