I have a front and back 500 lbs ballast on the boat. What is the benifit of adding a wake plate? Is it worth the $$$? Will I see a noticable difference?

You didn't say if it was an inboard Launch, or the V-drive...

If it's a V-drive, the wake-plate really helps you come onto plane faster, and lets you adjust the attitude of the boat depending on load and water conditions. It can somewhat tune the wake for more lip, or less depending on how you like it. It does NOT make the wake bigger or smaller, just changes it's shape a little.

It also lets you adjust for varying water conditions -- it helps get through rough water tremendously by bringing the nose down.

After having it on my SSV, I wouldn't want to be without it.

I don't think it would be needed on the inboard though, since it has so much more weight forward already. Not 100% sure on this though.

I had the manual plate on my Launch direct drive and I wish I had the Hydraulic. It makes a good difference in the shape of the wake. We changed it for when we rode and then back for riding around the lake. It helped alot in rough water or when cruising the lake with 2700lbs of fat sacs in the boat. Otherwise you would be hopping around the lake without adjusting the plate.

I have a wake plate on my 04 Mobius DD. It can help to clean up the wake depending on how you have your weight distributed. I can not imagine owning a boat without one of these, it would seem so one dimensional.
