Was just on hyperlite.com and noticed that they are going to produce a new line of boards called the Roam series. Wondering if anybody had any more info on these boards?

That's the same description that's on Hyperlite's website. Is this board super flexible like a snowboard or what? Is that what the deal is? Or just the shape?

It's made out of wood, I could see why the cost is lower than what you're used to seeing.

It looks like a fun board to try and jib things on and stuff and to fool around and have fun on, but it might be a new board that just feels like riding a snowboard.

The original "Core" boards made by Kurt Narmore out of SoCal also were experimenting with flexible board designs. I found the ride to be cool in a lot of ways. I still have one. If Hyperlite can find a way to make these decks durable enough, I'm sure they will find a niche market. At least they are pushing for development and creative thinking, so you can't fault them for that.

Looks to me like a whole different style of riding. Sounds fun though.

i still have my core board. as for hyperlite "pushing for development and creative thinking," some would beg to differ in a lot of cases.

I am right pissed off!! I spent the last 2 working on a design for a board with a flexible nose and tail section for presses on rails. Looks like Hyperlite beat me too it. But my design is way different. I am gonna take the world by storm....haha, yeah right. But I will post pics of a prototype by the end of summer I hope. Just thought it was ironic, not trying to say that they stole my idea, and definetely not saying that my idea will work right anyway.

Hopefully this isn't going to be another 'Hyperlite Haters' thread. Very cool that they're trying something new. This board looks like it might be nice for all you OWC / TSR riders. This board might be better for hitting kickers and sliders all day.

When they get some in for rental at OWC I might have to give it a try. Looks like it will be a slippery landing on the inverts.

Obviously they're being made to be used on sliders, however I'm curious how it will ride just for wake tricks. Also curious how it will affect ollie height.

That semi-flexible Core board of mine ollies like a mother. Seems like you compress the tail, and then it snaps back and pops you up like a snowboard. The way it ollies is one of my favorite things about it - don't know whether the HL will behave the same or not, but it might.
