I don't know if I should get pumped to ride, or plan on watching college bball all day tomorrow.

No kidding! This weather needs to stick to one pattern and not change 3x's a day.

My dad called me on Tuesday saying he saw people along I-90 on Washington riding. I was jealous.

Yeah, this needs to stop. I hate these season transitions. rain one day, sunny then next, who knows maybe it will snow next week? eh, at least i can still go snowboarding.

Get used to it we've got another couple months of it before it'll get better.

Nick - If it was Monday, those were my friends, John and Adam boarding. I was so jealous.

Cliff - come on....be NWHC and ride tomorrow.

Puget Sound is glass today also. Sitting here watching the ferries come and go in the glass. Although not sure I would want to be in that water necessarily.

Tuesday was such a tease. I was sitting in class and get a message from the dealer

"Hey, its a beautiful day, I'd love to get you out and take a test drive"

Too bad I had class 'till 9.

The water is great right now although it is raining off and on. I think it it supposed to stay this way for the next couple of weeks but that is what they said last week and we had a day that was up to 70. I am not really that hard core but I would have gone out if I could think up a good excuse to skip work.

I thought I read somewhere that Seattle was the most drepessing state per capita because of the constant rain?
Old     (ziggen)      Join Date: Jul 2006       03-09-2007, 2:18 PM Reply
City maybe? it really doesn't rain that much, just during the winter months.

look at actual rainfall data and its not that much, it actually rains more in sacramento than here on the island.
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       03-09-2007, 8:17 PM Reply
amount of rainfall, maybe, but not number of days it rains.
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       03-09-2007, 8:21 PM Reply
average days of precipitation .01 inches or more

sacramento 58 days

seattle 154 days

not seattle the island (me) last I researched it rained more days yes seattle vs sac but whidbey no. seattle got like just over 40 inches a year and sac just under 30.

The only difference I see is its not nearly as warm, and that sucks for this cali boy.... I miss the heat!!
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       03-09-2007, 8:33 PM Reply
head east to the columbia in the summer. it's plenty hot out that way and the water is MUCH better than, say, lake sammamish or lake washington.
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       03-09-2007, 8:40 PM Reply
you're right, it rains less in whidbey than seattle.

quote:

Annual Average Rainfall:
The best part of Whidbey Island is the weather. While it almost always rains in Seattle and Tacoma (200 inches per year), Whidbey is in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains. It only rains 22 inches per year in Oak Harbor

average for sac though is about 17.5 inches.

Joe I do want to head east and make some runs but its not feasable every weekend tho, plus with my deployments...

When I looked at the stats for sac it was a link I think though MSN to weather channel or something last year.

Man I do miss MY home lakes, esp the delta!!

Wanna live in the ultimate Washington rain shadow?

Sequim fella's.

I'd go as far as to say the year round weather is better than Nor. Cal. and Seattle. Not to mention hardly anyone rides the lakes, even in the summer.

oh no way! i'm headed to san diego!

i just know what it's like to leave seattle for a few days, ride the delta, then go back to lake sammamish.

Looks like I should have run out on the dock and flagged you down for a pull. Wait there aren't any boards on our dock yet. I hope you guys got in before the rain and white caps came in.

I head east almost every weekend in the summer. Its only about 2 hours to the columbia river. I really wish it was warmer here but at least our lakes are clean because of all the rain. Lake Washington is the 2nd cleanest urban lake in the United States. Always a nice thing when you drink as much lake water as I do in a normal set.

Yeah, Eastern WA rocks on the Columbia and Snake Rivers in the summer. With daylight savings, we will start ridin' 3-5 days a week very soon. Can't wait.

Robert - Was this the boat?

The pictures weren't the best due to the rain and clouds, but you can see we were loving being out there and it felt good to be on the water, even if I couldn't remember how to ride anymore. I have another 9 months to try and remember how to ride.

I just moved to Seattle from L.A. and I have to say that it might rain more here but one sunny day in Seattle is worth 10 in L.A.

I'm just getting used to the air not being as crunchy here.

Have the whites of your eyes returned to their natural color fron red and stopped watering yet? Everytime I go back to SoCal my lungs feel like I went on a smoking binge and my eyes won't stop watering. We gotta ride. I won't be out for another month or so but after that watch out.

We rode Shasta on Thursday, blue skies, butter water, and not another boat in site. Then we headed down to Disco Bay with Aaron Aubry and hit the Delta Friday and Saturday. I rode shorts and a top on the Delta, it was so nice!! We won't be riding in shorts up here for another couple of months!!. I will post some pics soon.

22 hours from Disco Bay, CA to Spokane, WA yesterday in RV with boat in tow. What a trip!

Later,

That was the black and white nautique I saw. Pictures look good. It looked like fun out there for a while and then the weather changed. How is the water temp? I am assuming high 40's.

The water was 44, air was around 55 Saturday. We got on, got our sets in, and got off just before the rain hit. I like to call that the perfect Seattle Saturday set.
