You need a test light. They're cheap and handy. Touch the point the power line. They're very sharp and can be pushed through the coating but it's best to find a plug and test there. The handle will have an alligator clip. Attach that to a long wire that's connected to a good ground. Now you can follow the power line back to where it loses power. If it glows at the unit you have the ground disconnected. Good luck. It's a pain chasing wiring but it's not hard.
