I refinished my teak platform with some stuff that should hold up a lot better than just teak oil. It is similar to the factory finish. http://www.epicmarine.com/docs/Epic%20Teak%20Platform%20Refinishing.pdf

I found some pretty nice marine carpet today at Lowes. It is rubber backed, listed as marine carpet not just indoor/outdoor. It is a very close match to my original carpet and you can buy it in small amounts, $6.70 sq/yd

Ben - that's one hell of an idea. Grant - How much weight does the resin add to the wood? Just curious before I go coating some stuff on my boat.

I picked up the marine carpet at lowes.I ended up buying 60 feet of it.I cant believe it took so much carpet for the boat. Then I went and bought more and did all the bunks and guides on the trailer.

Kraig: : Im guessing it adds few pound's @ most. Nothing to worry about Mike What kind of glue did you use for your carpet in the boat. I have been using the 3m spray glue for basic carpet instalation, Im wondering how its going to work on the trailer carpet that stays pretty wet (Message edited by whitechocolate on December 31, 2004)

Grant, I'd use good contact cement (like DAP Weldwood) instead of the 3M spray. That's what everyone uses for putting new mats/turf on jetskis. The spray won't hold in that application at all.

Superjet: Yea I have a can of the DAP Weldwood contact cement thats what Ill use. Thanks for the advice, Hey a litle trivia on the DAP Weldwood, I guess the VOC's on the contact cement are pretty high, So for us that live in the Bay Aera we get a watered donw contact cement, (poor Ozone layer) people living outside the Bay Aera can buy the real stuff the DAP that stick's real good. Ill be using the DAP and stainless steel staples

I'm sure that watered-down version is saving the environment (or at least a few brain cells). Just what we need...the government telling us what glue we can use. Have fun with your project.

KC - Checkout the FAQ section of http://www.boatcarpetonline.com. They have a few good tips on replacing carpet. I started taking out my interior yesterday. Hopefully I'll have the carpet finished in a week or two. Depends on weather and time.

Don't have any pics b/c the boat's stored for the winter, but here's what we're planning. Replacing rubrail with blue ropelighting to match boat. Maybe consider the computer to go with it to make it flash or go with the music or whatever. Little blue LED's drilled into the tower. Two air horns on the tower... if we have time....;)

That carb spacer is cool. Your carb will work a lot better, especially when you add gobs of weight or go slow and don't get all the way on plane for wakesurfing, etc.

nice machine work. what material did you use? if it's UHMW or Delrin, both are around 180ºF working temp. not sure how hot the top of the manifold gets, but it's probably close to that. just a thought.

Thanks for the compliments. Trace, to be honest I have no idea what the material is, it was laying around the shop so I took it. But before I made the spacer out of it, I put a chunk of it in the oven at 300* for a half hour or so and it was just as hard as at room temp. I made it last winter and it worked well, but to tell you the truth I didn't notice in performance, but I'm glad to have it anyway.

Pete, when you run out of other things to do, why don't you angle two of them Atriums straight down and disconnect your stock speakers? Bet the sound'd be great coming from up there, and the gunnel speakers wouldn't be distorting and and and...and then when you pull your windshield off and mount a pair of them component speaks up like shawn did...

Grant, I gotta ask man. Although those mirrors are some really awesome bling for a boat, are the LCD's really worth a darn out in the sun? Don't get me wrong, the Chocolate Carbon Fiber Shop puts out some quality work from what I've seen, I just have a real question in my mind whether LCD screens should even be in a boat.

Mike: The LCD's work in direct the sun just not that. The mirrior's flips up and makes a sun visor so they work good. Most of the time I have the bimini up and then its cool. We usually have the LCD's going at night watching movies ect.
