How much ballast do you trailer and have you had any problems with your trailer? Either driving or when it was sitting for an extended period.

I have trailered about 600 pounds of static ballast plus gear for about a year and had no trouble but was wondering if anyone has.

I towed and drove for about 2 months w/ 600lbs in the boat...no problem, but you could feel a big difference in towing w/ and w/o . I ended up taking it out for towing & storage. (I tow about 25 miles each way)

I've had 700lbs+ in my boat for a couple of years now. No noticible effects and I do take the lead out for long trips.

Most of my towing is less 20 miles each way and the total weight of the boat, trailer, lead, gear... is still well under the towing capacity of my truck.

I have 550 pounds of lead in my boat on a tandem trailer. I move 300 pounds of the lead to the rear when I tow to reduce the tongue load on the truck. I tow 35 miles each way, 18 months with no problems so far.

I had 1000 lbs on a tandem axle last summer . I only had to tow about 2-3 miles at 25 mph. So it was not a problem at all. I took it out for storage and replaced it with an auto ballast system that should pump 2000 lbs in ! May end up putting some weight back into it to tune the wake, prob not more than 500 lbs though
