So we decided to fill bit more last night and loaded the old Star (205V hull) with 4K. All I can say is WOW. Managed to stomp my TS backroll once I figured out how to hit that monster. Forgot the camera, I'll get some pics early next week.

Here's how it was spread: Nose: Integrated bow sac - around 600 200 lead 750 in walkway as far forward as possible Mid: 400 in the floor 400 in front of the back seat 150 in lead under the passenger seat and 750's in the lockers. We were running between 24.2 nd 24.5 and it was perfect, could have gone faster if we wanted, but it cleaned up nicely right there, so we stayed. Had just a hair of wash right on the top, but that was due to the prop. Really had to watch the rooster to keep it from coming in when you stopped (Message edited by dirwoody on August 21, 2009)

Yeah....Call me a wuss, but 4K was plenty for this guy, give me a few weeks of hitting it, then we may be willing to pay catch-up!

Yep the Acme prop is so worth every penny. 2 boats I ride just got the best prop they could. Now we load more weight, go bigger, and have more fun, ect.

Darin, After looking at all the photo's you took, we still need to clean up the wake better. Maybe Nintzel will chime in again and give us some in put on how to make it a little cleaner. I think the Acme prop just throw's so much water it looks washed but really is not.

I have not seen a 1st gen. X-star too slammed for the wake to get worse and wash the only problem was not enough HP

I agree, we see a touch of wash on the top, but think it's prop wash....Jay and Nitzel....any insight? Also, if we decide to take it to 5K, using the above placement, where would you put the weight? We're thinking 5 middle of the floor and another 5 up front

Gene, I don't have any issue with not enough horse power, the Acme sure helped a ton and the LTR 330 seems to have a ton of torque. I do have one issue though, with 4K it seems that to much in the rear and the Acme throws so much water it tends to look washed, but it's for sure nice and hard. So I would like to see if Nintzel would suggest putting more up front to take care of that at time's.

Hey I have the same boat with the same motor with an s/s different pitch prop ( not sure what it is since it was a freebee) but I was wondering if you knew what pitch the acme 1235 prop was so I ca get mine pitched the same way. Mine seems to struggle w 3500 in it!

I have never seen to much weight in my Star, with the Big engine and the ACME 1235 we can get 6k in the boat no problem. You really gotta watch it when your driving like that tho-

Is 6K really that much better than 4K? It seems at that point the loss of safely, handling, and gas isn't worth the marginally better wake.

I agree with Nick.... 3k of LEAD. So I mean a legit 3k was where my X2 was perfect. The wake would start lipping up a bit on one side with more than that. It had plenty of power, but got to the point where you had to move people to the back to get off plane (more weight in the back and it'd lip worse). It was really hard to drive with 3k plus 6-7 people. It might have been the prop I was running.

Here's my old boat with 2500lbs of lead looking pretty similar to that 4k of water. I guess I think people push around numbers too freely. It doesn't matter how much weight you run. It all matters what kind of meat it's kicking up out back.

Evan, I think you are correct on this whole thing about the true amount of weight in a boat, (my boat) for example. I do have 300lbs of lead so I know that is actual, as far as the rest how much am I really putting in? I fill the sac's until they seem to about blow, and try like crazy to get all air out of the ones sitting on floor and the hard plumbed sac's are they filling to their fullest or maybe some even more? I am going to use my fake-a-lake and actually see the true amount these sac's all do hold. I am sure that this figure will more than blow my mind to what I am ACTUALLY carrying. Probably a lot less than what I (We) think. One thing for sure, this has been a fun project to see how much the wake changes by the weight and how it is placed around the boat, and to get an actual amount now.
