I think it uses Ford Dexron or Mercon & I don't know the difference & can not remember for sure. Have 96 Sanger with Borg Warner Velvet Drive 1:1. Any idea how many quarts and how often it should be changed?

Thanks for the help?

Mine is gone but I know every time I changed it I had to look in the owners manual for the specifics. It had to have specific grade qualities and detergents. It was easy to change so I would check it annually and change it every few years.

Dexron/Mercon 3 is what u need. Will hold about 3 quarts, make sure u check the fluid level correctly, you should change it every 1000 hours or once every year, which ever comes first.

In case you don't know, Get the trans up to temp, As soon as you stop the engine, pull the dip stick, wipe it off and stick it back in and pull it out as quick as possible. That will give you the correct level, this takes into consideration of drain back from the trans cooler lines. since I don't know if your cooler is higher or lower than your transmission is. You should do this at home and in the water the first time. I carry a extra quart of Fluid with me at all times just in case.

DexII is what I've always used on velvet drives althouh from what I understand these drives are so simplae and robust they'd run with just about anything wet and slimely inside them.
