The prices for ski/wakeboards boats in the UK are real high and after browsing ebay in USA I can see some real sweet deals.

I'm after something around 21ft in length, have to be open bow, direct drive and be good for rougher water.
The size of the wake isn't real important to me but space and ride are.

Has anyone imported a boat from USA or shipped one out?
I'm looking to spend up to $15K plus shipping and guessed I would need a 40ft container but as they are limited to just over 7' width how would I go about getting the boat and trailer in it?

Anyone care to comment?

I had a friend ship a 23' sailboat from Germany to Charleston, South Carolina USA a couple of years ago. It cost about $3800. US. It did not come over in a container, it was tied down on top of the container load. Try this link.

I had a boat sold to a guy in the UK but we could not make it work. It was going to be shipped from Charleston to South Hampton for around $3500. It fell through because the boats in the US are not CE approved and the ski club would not allow it. I think it was a roll on type shipping. The buyer also has to have the paperwork filled out for customs. There are people who will do that for aroung $250. Which ever shipping company you use will have someone you can contact for that.

Doesn't a boat need an automatic fire suppression system for it to be CE rated. If so, I don't think 90% of the wake boats in the US could be CE rated easily.

Yea, and they have to have a pan under the engine so no oil can get in the bilge and several valves in the different lines. It also has to have a certificate stating that it is CE approved. The only time a factory will CE a boat is if it is going to Europe.
