Back in May I tore my MCL and ACL while wakeboarding Lake Mead. In 3 weeks I go in for surgery on my ACL. I have a question regarding grafts and recovery. My Dr gave me 3 options, Patella tendon graft, hamstrig tendon graft, or achilles tendon graft (cadaver). He says that with the patella tendon I would lose somoe strength there and that there is a 30% chance that I will have chronic knee pain for the rest of my life. The hamstring tendon is a better option as it will cause less secondary issues after recovery but will still add extra discomfort during recovery. The cadaver achilles tendon sounds liek the best option to me. It comes with a bone plug, is really strong and Im not robbing something from somewhere else. I know there are quite a few people who have had the surgery or know someone personally who have had it. I would really appreciate your input into this before I go under the knife. I will miss the whole snowboarding season but if all goes as planned I will back up and running in time for mnext summer! Thanks, Nick
