Chad,

Marc here from Roswell- The quality of sound for the level/price of the KFC 1679 is very good. However it is designed for and will perform much better if it is amped up seperatley and you are able to fine tune the sound through an amp.
The reason we use the Kenwood KFC 1679's in the combo is to match the quality of sound in the boat system from the factory.
As many Supra owners will attest to the combo is a great value. You may be able to speak to your dealer and see if you can get an on water demo in a boat with a combo wired up before purchasing your own. This way you will have a better idea if the combo will meet your expectations.

Marc makes a great point. When I first finished my tower speakers they sounded great with all the EQ setting running flat. The problem was that the Polks in the boat were extremely bright so I needed to turn down the highs a bit. Not having seperate EQ controls between the boat and the tower was a problem since they were not matched. I was constantly changing EQ settings when I switched between the tower and the boat. I ended up changing the HLCD attuation circuit to brighten up the tower setup, now it matches the boat. It will drive you nuts if it's not done correctly.
