I am looking for some more options this season. I wouldn't mind doing a little driving around to find great water and campgrounds. I am 1 hour northeast of LA. Any suggestions within 3 hours drive?
Thanks.

drive a little further (north) and hit up the delta. otherwise, your options are limited.

Darin,

buena vista, up near bakersfield is great mid-week, and early mornings. plus, they have great campsites, right on water, all grass. not too many great places in so cal. if you can find a connection at Canyon Lake, that would be your best bet.

Bv is the best to camp at even though the water is really shallow, and mid summer the water will be about 85. In High School my friends and I used to go Wednesday mornings to pyramid but it gets blown out by about 10:30 or 11:00. Castaic is also good early in the morning. If you can get a few days off I would also recommend the Delta, I used to do it from Palmdale, it was a long drive but well worth it.

Get down to the River. Weekend camping at Twin Palms 15 miles north of Blythe. About 200 miles east of Rancho.

There is a skin eating virus floating around in BV, and there is no cure. Not a good idea to come here.

Just kidding, if your looking for people to ride with, there are still a few of us that don't give a crap about skincare and ride. Hit either me, or Chuck H up.

Last year didn't BV have a giant man eating crocodile that the EPA wouldn't let us kill? New year new dangers I guess...
