New Setup needed

I've been wakeboarding for about a year and a half. Nothing special, but wanting to take the next step, and actually start tricks rather than being pulled behind the boat. I have an 09? Hyperlite drive 144 ( i think) with Hyperlite bindings. I bought this board when I weighed about 230lbs, Im now at 200 plus or minus a few, at 5'10", and was wondering if I should be using a smaller board?
The drive seems to move well, and handle well, but I really don't know what to look for considering it's the only board I've used. It does seem heavy or bulky, and I thought of getting something lighter or smaller? THanks for your opinions.

hyperlite sucks

If memory serves, the Drive is based on the old 3DS shape and is liked by many folks, pros included. Its hard to say what board you would like, basically you need to ride more and get a feeling for what you like in a wakeboard design. The best way to do that is to demo boards/ride friends setups. Perhaps start by trying a 3-stage rocker and see how you like it compared to the continuous rocker Drive. There are a million ways to make a wakeboard, the fun part is learning what you like.

I don't think that board is too large and for your size I wouldn't recommend going any lower than 142.

WHat is a 3 stage rocker? what does the Hyperlite drive have as rocker?

3 stage means that there is a short flat spot in the middle of the board between the feet. Instead of a "continuous" curve there are "three" distinct sections or "stages" of the board with different curve angles.

the flat spot gives the board a more noticeable/ aggressive kick off the wake. this is not to say it will give you more air, but a different style or path through the air. 3 stage gives more steep trajectory while continuous tends to be more mellow. also threestage tends to be a bit slower than continuous while riding on the surface of the water.

These boards will not be SET in these characteristics. a rider can still boost straight up on a continuous board or far out past the second wake on a 3 stage. for example. think of these boards and their characteristics as accents... to accentuate these kind of characteristics or style

You will notice many boards with a hybridization of these two styles. rocker names like, "hybrid", "subtle 3 stage", etc. might interest you if you think you are like most and lie somwhere between a rider who likes a fast board or slow, boost up or boost out when in the air.
