A FAMILY FRIEND ASKED ME TO DESIGN AND BUILD HIM A (4) 6 x 9 Tower box. I started the construction on Saturday and worked on it alittle bit today. You can see in the last picture that I broke one of the plexi glass rods, so I have to Drill that out and put a new one in tomorrow. He wanted a Batwing looking box but I kinda wanted something alittle different, so I went with the three wing effect and this is what I have so far. Hope you like it.

So when you make these boxes you make the frame out of mdf, then cover with grill cloth, then lay fiberglass and resin over it? Both boxes look great. I may have to try and make one!

thats how i did the first one, I think I would do it differently the next time. i.e. matte and resin on the inside = less bodywork on the outside.

Its great to see other people doing their own projects but its also great to do projects for other people too. I think the best thing about doing something like this is their reaction to the product once it is done. I like to see other peoples ideas too, because it brings new ideas to my mind when I do my next project. Thanks for your posts. Sorry I havent posted anymore pics yet, Ive been working on Harolds box, first things first, and I have work allday. I should work on it some more tomorrow or this week end though.
Actioncpd: Good Luck if you make your own box, its alot of fun, but the number one thing is to not get frusterated and impatient. Fiberglass work is unrestricted but can be messy so you have to be able to see the finished product before you even start. If you do decide to build one make sure to post pictures.

Brian: This Box is for a guy named Dave, he just bought his first boat in August of 2004, it is a 2004 Wakesetter, all white w/ a red stripe. He liked my box so he wanted the same thing but I made his wing alittle different, just to keep one product looking different from the next.

That box looks sweet. Where did you get the plexi glass rods from? Could you post some pics of the actual fiberglass steps? I'd like to try building one myself but it definitely looks hard.
