So I'm still rocking my Marius 140 I got back in 07. Last weekend I wasn't planning on riding due to my shoulder, but it was feeling good, the water was beautiful, and my friends were egging me on, so I took my girlfriend's Era 137 out for a quick spin. On the way home she kept commenting on how big I was going while I thought I had taken it really easy. So my question is this. After 2 seasons, has my core started to become spongey to the point where I ride a bit smaller board and get booted more, or should I blame it on the rocker line difference? Because if my core is tired, that board is getting retired and my shopping begins!

I never bought into this much, but then when I get a new board after a few years I'm always amazed at how much more lively it is. I can mostly tell this doing ollies.

Maybe that was the case for you, or maybe the Era just suited you better. Who knows.

I think any excuse to get a new board is a good one. So I say let the shopping begin!

I have had boards loose their pop. Actually I was a big fan of the Double Up Lidberg and had several brand new ones I had picked up on ebay and through dealers (as DU is out of business). Well one day I decided to switch my boots onto a brand new one (as opposed to a 3 year old one). My first W2W immediately tossed me into a glide...I wasnt ready for the snap from the fresh deck. Soooo yes it happens.

I can see it happening to boards. It happens to snowboards all the time. If you are pressing your board quite a bit you will lose the stiffness after a while. Snowboards are a bit different then wakeboards but when I upgraded to my new snowboard I couldn't believe how much stiffer it was.

I was wondering, because my ollies have lost some zing in the last 2 months.....let the shopping begin!

All board cores lose their integrity after a while. Snow/skate/wake....nothing is forever.

The Era is just a lot better than the Marius...

Yeah, that's the shape I rode prior to the Marius, still unsure if the rocker line had anything to do with it
