Techno? That's not allowed on my boat. I usually crank the Vanilla Ice, Kanye West (old stuff), Lil Wayne, or T.I.

Fischerspooner, Ladytron, ummmm, ummm, ??????? Sometimes, just to joke around, someone will turn on really crappy techno or pop music similar to spice girls (that did happen once) over the tower speakers to joke around.

This is a slightly ironic topic, because the latest Wake Board Magazine listed one in there music section, "The Whip" check them out on myspace. profile i think is thewhipmanchester. Techno is both my most favorite and most hated music. I dislike about 99% of the stuff but like the remaining 1 % or so that i personally call "Non-Repetative-Techno" or "Orchestrated-Techno"... Now there is an Oxymoron if you ever heard one, "nonrepetative techno?" the stuff practically doesn't exist. the best place to find it in my opinion is the older stuff from the 80's and early 90's before Rave Dances turned it into repetative junk and killed it (IMO) other times, no-name artists are good sources too. but with this said, i don't have a good collection. the stuff i like best is some of the stuff from "Information Society," "Real Life" (the band that did that really popular song, "Send Me an Angel"), and "Loud Mouth" (Loud mouth doesn't really formally exist i don't think) the rest is just super random junk that i googled, some from download.com ohh, and there is a really funny but nastalgic type of techno out there that is easily found and downloadable, techno made with video game consoles' soundcards. "Nintendude" has some of the funniest techno i have ever heard... even great for those who would like to dl it just for cracking jokes and turning heads on the water hahahahah "look at me i'm listening to my old school NES, but better" but seriously, it is pretty creative to take an old scool sound card like that and make music like that (Message edited by wakerider111 on March 03, 2009)

If you think most good techno is repetetive you are not listening very carefully. If you think most rock/rap/pop/etc is not repetitive you are obviously not listening to the music and getting distracted by the lyrics. When you say "techno" are you saying in the broad "electronica" sense or the slightly more specific techno genre (like Richie Hawtin/Adam Beyer/Jeff Mills/etc)

Techno, Punk and Hip Hop are all I listen to. Yes there is lots of crappy techno. But there is even more crappy pop, rock and rap that will never be played in my boat. I can't say I really listen to a lot of techno on the boat it doesn't really fit that boat 'mood' imho. I do like techno, house, drum&bass, jungle, two-step, etc but won't list it here unless requested. For boat-worthy 'techno' music, I like: -atmospheric drum and bass (like LTJ Bukem or James Holden), -glitch-hop (I know goofy genre name but really good try Prefuse 73, Four Tet or Dntel) -or downtempo/jazzy (try Mark Farina, Thievery Corporation, Kruder & Dorfmeister)

These guys have some descent stuff. I think their best creation is the Vibrations mix about halfway down the page...i dont find it anoyingly repetitive like most etronic music. It's available for free download....in fact the whole page is. (lots o music) I'm not sure how it would jive on a boat. http://www.fingerfunk.org/downloads.html

maybe "more variety" is a better word for my tastes than "non-repetative" i know repetition is what makes rythym and is what makes music, but sometimes thats all i hear is just repetition of a limited choice of sounds/instruments. for example "Loud Mouth" has some typical electronic sounds, added with rock, added with sounds of pipes and cans and growls and acid fizzling and all sorts of crazy sounds, lots of variety and creativity, to my ears anyway i also use "techno" in a very very broad sense. i don't really bother to know and recognize all the various branches and sub branches and "twigs" of music genres. I just stick close to the trunk and whatever gets recomended to me by those more familiar with the "whole music tree" I definately am NOT a music buff. I am probably one of the few people in the world that does not have multiple 3-ring-binders full of CDs...heck i don't even have one full. anyway, enough of my unique personal tastes and opinions. some friends shared with me an interesting customizable radio music site, pandora.com I will forward their recomendation to ANYONE. just type up a name of a song or music group and it will create a radio station based on that and play similar songs and genres. you can tell it what you like and don't like, add variety, etc. check it out. they call themselves the "music genome project." it is free too!!! ... well mostly, without a paid membership you have to tell it that your still listening every hour or so or more, which is not that bad. they don't have every song on the site of course, but they have a lot! Pandora.com might help you find more stuff similar to what you like. maybe someone knows something better than pandora? like i said, i am NO music buff extrordanare. }}i just know what i like is all (Message edited by wakerider111 on March 07, 2009)
