I need a sub that can handle 500 watts RMS with a mounting depth of 6 inches or less. Any suggestions. I have a j/l 1000/1 on a 10w6 right now (not hooked up yet) and need another 10 in the boat, but am limited on space.

I don't know any 10 inch subs that have a 6" mounting depth that can handle 500 watts RMS. I would suggest a JL 10W1v2 for this application with like 250 watts RMS. I'm sure there's a sub out there that can handle what you want, I just don't know of it.

Scratch that, make it a JL 10W3v2. I didn't realize it was under 6" mounting depth. Barely under at 5.75" but it'll handle 500 watts RMS and sound great doing it.

Thought abotu he W3, but that
is pushing it very hard.....500 watts is alot better match to the w6. Anyone tried a w3 on a jl 500/1 or 2 on a jl 1000/1

The W-3's are a great choice.
#1 Cheep
#2 Sounds Good
#3 Shallow mounting depth
#4 Needs little air space
#5 Needs little power

i run a w-3 in the back seat of my dodge. it sounds great. the main reason for that speaker is the depth. i wanted to keep the stock seat functioning.

Can the w-3 handle the poweer (500 watts RMS) I am thinking about selling the 100/1 and buying a 250/1 for a 10 w3 and a 500/1 for the 10 w6. anyone have any exp. w/ the kicker l5 or elemental design subs?

Adam have you considered just turning the gain down a bit instead of swapping out the amp??

Bob, I thought about it, but I wanna push the w-6 I already have, with the right amount of power. The aditional sub is just that an addition. the 1000/1 is bought and paid for but can be returned.

Adam,

Call Duane, he is selling the "NVS" alumapro subs, they will work. I may make the upgrade.
