Hi guys, i've been reading this board for about a year now and everyone seems real helpful. In fact i just dropped big bread because of all the things i learned about X2s from this board. I even picked up tips for dealing with negotiations when buying a boat. Well i'm goin back to the well, I could use some ideas for upgrading the stock subwoofer in my X2. That stock 10" JL Audio is just not cutting it. I mean it doesn't even come in a box. Its just mounted through one of the compartments! Whats worse is they put my heating tube right behind the woofer. That eliminates building a box that fits in that compartment for the woofer. Or can I build a box that has the heating tube run through it? Would that damage the tube? I don't want to just trash the woofer cuz I'm sure its part of the reason the boat cost so much. I know you other X2 owners have more beat than just the stock 10", so let me know what you got. I also have yet to pick out tower speakers, so any suggestions on those would be nice also. Thanks.

Congrats on the new boat! Give Jim at Neptunes a call in Stockton he is reworking subs in a couple MC's and taking care of the other areas you are interested in. 209-466-8863 You can't go wrong with Neptunes!

Thanks Jim. I keep hearin good things about neptunes, in fact i think i saw some pictures of their work on this board and it looked awesome. But I was hoping to get some ideas and do most of the install myself.

You could go down and talk with Jim and he will show you things and help you out for what you want to do, he's got tons of years of experience to help. I would just give him a call and find out what boats are there and check it out and also he can show you a variety of options when it comes to components.

Feel free to give us a call or even swing by the shop. Even if your going to do the install yourself, maybe we can answer some questions you may have. You have a lot of options to go with on that boat, all depends on how much storage you are willing to lose.

Neptunes in Stockton is the place to go. They did both of our 2005 X2s (X1s) and just finished our new 2007 X-Star also. They do first class work and won't break you bank. You can meet these guys at the CIE Spring Ride at Tulloch in two weeks. They are responsible for a boat audio contest. They can also hook you up with the NVS mentioned above, which I agree are top notch. They are a dealer.

hahaha, i was thinking about cramming a second 10" and turning the compartment behind the driver's seat into a box, all while under the observer's seat is an empty cavern! Also in that location, I wouldn't have to run as many wires. Thanks for pics jake. Expect a pm from me. I have a few questions regarding the patchjob where the old speaker was. I'm definitely looking into the NVS entity speakers. My buddy has a pair and they are the loudest i've heard. Also hate to sound completely vain, but i was pretty much sold on NVSs when i first saw them hangin from my buddy's tower. Best lookin speakers around. 4 10" drivers hangin from the tower, come on are you serious?!! Sick! Jarrod, i'm gonna be in tahoe may 4-6 but now i might have to go a day late or sneak away a day early. When do you think would be best to go, first day or last? If you had to choose one.

You'll want to be there Saturday if you can. Otherwise, I guess Friday would be second best. You'll kick yourself for missing it once you see the pictures.

54......Here is the patch job I did on my 07 X-2 pictured above. A $5.99 white marine 10" grill. All done! And those PDX amps rock. I got 8 JL Audio separates running off one PDX-4.150!!! Doesn't even break a sweat. . . . (Message edited by ShawnK on April 19, 2007)

And I don't mean just the patch job with the grill. If you haven't seen shawn's boat, look for it. its tight, from the stereo system to the leds.
