Will soap really wreck your bindings? I have been using binding slim but it is kind of $$ for a small tube.(6.00) Dish soap is like a buck, that's 5 for gas. I need the truth!!!!!!

From what I was told soap will not destroy the bindings during the time you own your board. Meaning that it will take 10 + years for the soap to destroy the bindings. The reason for using slim vs soap is the way they disapate in the water. Soap will not disapate completly in the water like slim so you will not have as tight of an overall fit. You will be more likely to come out of your bindings with soap. I am no expert, and this is what the guys at the local shop told me.

some soaps have chenicals that break down the rubber over a long time, if using soap id recommend something environmentally friendly/biodegradeable

cool, I tired using just a little soap, and really shaking my feet around in the water. Seems to work same as the slim and it costs a lot cheeper!

I use 50/50 Herbal Essence from Costco. Its cheap, works great, smells good, and bio friendly.

2nd Shaving cream... use the cheap colgate 98cent stuff from wal mart. It is cheap and disolves as soon as it gets into the water. Soap will stay in the bindings and you could come out of them when you don't want to (read dangerous).

Suave shampoo, great flavors; right now I'm using coconut for that nice tropical feel!!

Johnson & Johnson Baby Tearless Shampoo...works really well and dissolves very quickly and completely in the water. Just make sure that when using soap that you submerge your feet while inside the bindings before riding to remove and residual soap. Very gentle on your skin and bindings...remember "No Tears"

I use dawn dish detergent, have been for 3 years and have not had any problems with deteriation. Although I have used shaving creme in the past, the gel types are very slippery and an advantage of shaving creme is you can shave your monkey feet!

The sun will destroy your bindings before soap will.

I'll use just about any biodegradable item that is cheap. I don't see the value in spending $6+ dollars for some slime, loogey lube, or other name brand item. I'm poor and need to save as much $$ as possible to go towards ridding.

i think dish soap dissipates pretty fast in the water. If I put dish soap on my bindings and try to put them on in the water the soap is gone in about 10 seconds. I have to just slam my feet in or get more soap. I think you would have to put your board/ ski on in the boat or on the platform or the slime disapears too fast. I have never come out of a binding in 15 years of serious skiing because of soap. Never saw any binding deterioration either.

Newt juice is $19 a gallon at Boarders paradise, thats enough to last you a season, I've argued w/ people on here about it before, but we put over 100 hours on the boat lastyear and went through 1/2 of the gallon, if you cant afford $10 a year you shouldnt be boardin. Also if we dont take care of the lakes they will get taken away from us.

So flame on

Ivory soap. I keep a bar in a ziploc or plastic cup in a cup holder. Its biodegradable and floats if you drop it in. You can also wash those dingleberries out during those long camping weekends.
1 bar is good for at least 2 seasons and cost about 79 cents.

Friends wear out bindings... Everything wears out bindings. Soap might be bad for them, but I bet it is not nearly as harmful the sun is. The soap is on and off the bindings in a few minites--the boards sit in the sun the whole day...

I have many pairs of ripped bindings. Most have one thing in common--I let friends wear them. All of my 2002 bindings that ripped, ripped while a friend was wearing them. The people I know who aren't in the position of having people borrow there board have bindings that are four and five years old and still doing great.

Newt Juice. It works great and I like to support someone w/ enuf guts to try to make a living selling product to wakeboarders and putting something back into the sport. Great job Nick!

I've got a gallon of slime I bought a season ago for like $20 and I'm not even half way through it. Sure initially its expensive but I don't have to spend a buck or two every couple of weeks at walmart, which I'm sure that by the end of the summer adds up to $20+. And I am supporting the wake industry and my local boardshop.

If you go the shaving cream route you also want to make sure that you do not leave the can on your upholstery for extended periods 'cause on some brands the bottom of the can will rust and leave a mark on your seats/wherever. Just some FYI.

When I don't spend extra money on products that I do not use or need, or cost too much. I use that money on ropes, handles, gloves, boards, bindings, and accessories and support my board shops and the local bu dealer
