Who will be the first wakeboarders to sign on with Radar?
Old     (criswb)      Join Date: Oct 2005       06-12-2006, 6:46 PM Reply
I heard that parks was changing, but I am not a reliable source, since I cant say i heard it from a reliable source. Someone else was "changing" but i dont remember who.

I've heard that Danny Harf is switching from a reliable source, beyond that I don't know.

I didn't know Harf was with a reliable source. So is he switching to a less-than-reliable source?

I just did that so Swass doesn't have to! :-)

i know, i know, i heard it right from the dogs mouth, but of course I cant say. needless to say its not danny or parks, but i heard they maybe on board.....oh yeah rumor has it, they are not called radar wakeboards....

i haven't heard this from anyone, but i'll be the first to admit that all this is is a prediction; shaun murray will be the first to leave hyperlite and join the o'briens' new company.

"A reliable source told me Danny Harf would be riding for Radar next year." Sorry if there was any confusion. Believe me if you want or don't, but I belive my source 100%. Also, Murray won't be riding for Radar, at least not next year. He's still under contract with Hyperlite.

When does all the stuff get released, I'm in the market for a second pair of bindings for another board and am debating on whether or not to wait or ebay some of last years.

I heard from a semi-reliable source that 99% of the time reliable sources cannot be relied on if said source's reliability is relayed via mysteriously unreliable relayers via Internet discussion boards.

Expect a September announcement. JStar is the same corporate family, so the JStar boards and bindings will share engineering, manufacturing, and maybe some parts. Time will tell. I know a bit more than I can say here and now. Expect good things in a few months.

I heard Parks, Harf, and Byerly are all signing with Skurfer, and will compete on the PWT riding switch ONLY!

Should be a cool deal to watch!

My reliable source says that there's a 99% chance I'm not wearing underpants.

She also says I am 100% enjoying the freedom.

Furthermore, she says you guys are 96.34% like a bunch of 8 year olds after Pokemon cards.

They have done studies on Sex Panther and 60% of the time, it works every time.

Both Parks and Harf wear Sex Panther....so chances are....

apparently, parks simply asked to opt out of his contract, which hype didn't hesitate to do.

word now is that harf didn't renew his contract either. i'll check on that in a bit.

Parks and Harf won't be sponsored by any board companies next year. They are switching to be come pro footers and don't have a need for boards any more.

Harf will attempt the first ever 900 footer off of a ramp. Parks will attempt a bare rail slide to 180.

Rumor has it that Dr. Scholl's will sponsor these new extreme footers.

Does anybody know what the O'Briens' reason was for leaving Hyperlite? I was borderline shocked when I heard about it. I've always loved the Hyperlite gear, even though I had my personal favorites (like everyone). They were so deeply involved in product development, I'm really nervous about the fall-out from all the changes.
Old     (boarditup)      Join Date: Jan 2004       06-15-2006, 7:28 AM Reply
Yes.

Herb O'Brien was bought out (50%) of HO and Hyperlite a few years ago. He tried to exercise the option to buy all the company back and it did not work out. The other owner bought him out. O'Brien still owns Jobe, JStar, and the new start up company rumored to be "Radar."

The JStar stuff is sick. I am on the Empire now and have a buddy on the Conformity. Good stuff if it fits your style of riding.
Old     (diddy666)      Join Date: Sep 2005       06-15-2006, 7:52 AM Reply
It is not a rumor. It is Radar. They had banners at the PWT in Atlanta.
Old     (lakeguy77)      Join Date: May 2002       06-15-2006, 12:57 PM Reply
Thanks Karl. Looking at the JStar line, it does indeed look impressive. Any truth to the rumor that the Empire is just a rebadged 3DS? They do look very very similar.
Old     (wakeriderixi)      Join Date: Jan 2004       06-15-2006, 1:03 PM Reply
Not rebadged... a little different. But close.
Old     (kristian)      Join Date: Nov 2002       06-15-2006, 3:05 PM Reply
yeah there's some differances between the empire and 3ds, but there was some influence you could say.

I heard from a 100% reliable source that he is 100% positive that square one wakeboards will be out on the market when they say they are. so that leaves me 101.3019419 % sure that u can wait a little longer and find out the real legit deal. peace
Old     (boarditup)      Join Date: Jan 2004       06-16-2006, 5:11 AM Reply
The Empire rides very different from the 3DS. Don't know about the design. The Empire has almost laser-like tracking on the cut into the wake - the most agressive edge I've ever ridden. If you like speed with a hard pop for landing into the flats, this is your board. If you like a snowboard loose feel, the Empire is not your board - Conformity or Titan. In the middle is the Flow (my son's board). Hard lock in on edge, but loose enough when flat.

JStar is legit and will be around after "Radar" is stood up. Great gear.

You can see the line at www.boarditup.com. I'll carry the new product, also, when it is released.

This is exactly what I like in a board, and why I love my Drifter. Lose and easy when it's flat, lay it on an edge and it grabs and goes. Unfortunately I just snagged a TFD 142 off eBay...was looking for a longer board, but still love absolutely everything about my Drifter...except the hard landings.

The ski line is Radar and the wakeboards are Ronix under the company name Square One. This was told to me by the sales manager at our shop were the Mastercraft and Hyperlite dealer in Wichita. He said he had heard this in an e-mail from Herb Obrien to some of the larger Hyperlite dealers. The email had more info and hes forewarding it to me ill try and post it later
