I need new bindings. I have tried on the 09 Ronix Relik's and liked them. I was just wondering how different the '08 are from the '09 model? since the '08s are only available through the internet, I cannot try them on.

I got a pair for ya doug, the relik 08 and 09 are alot the same when you hold the base plate stitch lines the same. You'll notice 80% of the difference below the stitch line. Other than the integrated tongue it looks like the same boot up top. Fit is pretty different.

Like all things, get a discount on year old technology or pay the premium for the latest and greatest.

Doug, I don't have any riding experience with the actual Relik's but I would pay the premium for the 09's. I tried them all on and they are very comfy and light.

I have the 09's and they are the absolute lightest boot on the market...I didnt know if I would like them at first because of how low they are cut but they provide plenty of support. Tweaking a tail grab has never been so easy. If you pay for the new ones you won't be dissappointed.

I personally noticed a sizing difference between the two. I tried on a pair of 08's in a size 11 and they fit snugly. I then tried on a pair of 09's recently in a size 12 and they felt equally as snug as the 11's previously. Maybe this is just my experience, but just an observation. There's always that "break-in" factor to consider I suppose.

I ride the 09's and they are a very light and comfortable boot. They provide great flex for boned/poked grabs, yet provide pretty good support. Question, mine came with J-pads. Little yellow J-shaped pads to stick in the bindings for extra support? They have velcro on the back side, but i cannot see exactly how to put them in/on the bindings. didnt find a groove cutout for them, etc. Can anyone advise...? Thx.

You have to get them in from the bottom. They go under the liner there are velco pads to put them onto. Unscrew the 2 screws on the bottom of the boot and slide the liner up to find the pads. They are really annoying to get in there and I didn't really find any benefit in them. But then again I ride the cells and they are plenty supportive to start with, with a softer boot like the relik I see how it could help.

The 09's are super light and poking grabs has never been so easy. I would go 09 for sure. Get them at your local pro shop too. You wont regret it.
