This will be our first inboard boat and first time surfing. I am curious if a 2013 MC X-10 with surf tabs and pro package would be a good place to srart or should I be trying to get into a gen 2 set up? Just don't know if there will be a huge difference especially for a newbie like me?

The X10 surfs great with our without GEN 2. The biggest advantage of Gen 2 is to be able to swap sides in an instant. Otherwise the original tabs will adjust your wake as well. Gen 2 can be added if you want down the road. However again the X10 surfs great with or without Gen 2. I say if the boat is clean and really well maintained jump on it, If it's at a dealer maybe try to negotiate a reduced price on a Gen 2 sytem if you're someone who needs the side swapping more often.
