i have just spent a week in france boarding,
have landed a few wake 360's and was trying my first invert, tantrum.

I found that i was getting enough pop off the wake but was not rotating anywhere near enough to get back onto the board, any ideas,
i've been told that i need to trip the board but the minute i tried this, i didn't get enough pop and landed panfully on my head like all the other attempts.

does anyone have any ideas as to how i should make these attempts as i'm no where near at the moment.

cheers

Harry,

Gareth attached the thread that I used to finally stomp my tantrums. Only thing I can add is that you should learn backflips on a trampoline first. I cannot imagine trying a trantrum without feeling comfortable doing a backflip. Guess it's possible though.

I have tried 3 tantrums on 3 different weekends - I have sprained both ankles in each of the 3 attmepts. Got 3/4 of the way around with little or no pop. I need to figure out a way to trip the board AND get the pop.

I have found that if you let up on your edge that you will get less pop. Take an aggressive progressive edge and continue to hold it until you are about 3 feet away from the wake. Release your back hand and the wake will through you back. Do a few backflips off the boat if you don't have a tramp. before you re attempt this.

Here is some video of an alternative way to try a tantrum, it may help you get your timing down. I did them this way for a while, because I was getting the rotation, but no pop because my timing was off. I watched the wake over my front shoulder all the way in, and turned my head after I was popping up. now I can hit them the regular way with huge pop.
Take a very aggressive approach, one that is much faster than a typical wake to wake because you will lose speed on the trip. let go with the back hand as you are starting to stand at the wake(remember to keep the line tight). When your legs are extended, rock your head back. this should happen at the very peak of the wake the instant after you pop, but before leaving the water. too much before hand, you will rotate low and fast. to late, you will pop, and not make a full rotation.
