I installed a new Faria Tach, to replace the old Faria Tach, which worked half the time, it seemed to had a loose wire. THe old Tach was set for 8 cylinders, so is the new one (the engine is a 350 merc, boat is a 89 sunsetter).

But the scal seems to be off with the new tach, it says 2000rpm instead it should be saying 3000rpm (cruising speed or 27 mph or so). Idle rpm is correct at 750 or so, so the overal scalling is off. Both rpm gauges go up to 6000 rpm I believe.

Any ideas?

I will post pics of the boat for all who have helped it, soon, almost done. Thanks.

^^^^ Yep - There should be a tab on the back of the gauge to set the # of cylinders.

It is set for 8 cylinders, as was the old one. Should I try someother setting? I cant find a customer service number for Faria.
