The renderings look awesome. How sick to have that bouyed on Tahoe. Did anyone notice the dry weight? 12500 is one heavy 30-footer.

W O W That thing uses an X80 as a tender. It's mounted on the bow and gets lowered with a davit. G*d d*mn MasterCraft aims for the high end of the market even in this economy.

Bazel, around 1200 RPMs, then after it warms up it should settle down to 800 RPMs. Lower if it's a diesel.

I would expect it to be closer to 200k. The 265 with twin engines goes for 165k. I wouldn't be surprised to see this one just shy of $250k after it is all said and done.

That is pretty cool however MC is making sooo many models now that it kinda scares me. It doesn't seem like they are hurting at all but does anyone think items like this may begin to overextend companies like mc in this economy. Part of the problem with GM is too many owned names and different models. Just my 2 cents. Props to MC for being innovative. I just don't want to see quality of other models that we all enjoy on here suffer because of ideas like this.

According to the latest issue of WaterSki the 265 lists for 129 or so k. I'm sure this Day Yacht (****) **** has to be in here because cool boat or not, that's just the douch'iest category name I've ever heard. Layoffs, falling markets, people losing their retirements... "Day Yacht". Anyway I bet options could put this Day Yacht into the 150-200k range. God that's almost as much as I make in a year. Who has that kind of cash if I don't? All of this said its one of my favorite boats currently in production. I'd name mine ****. (Message edited by boomshot on December 18, 2008)

Seems like MC is looking at different markets much like CC did in their earlier days. They built a wide variety of boats in the post war era if I am not mistaken.

If you think that is ugly, then I would say we are 180 degrees apart in taste. I think it's sick. If money were no option and I wanted a 30 footer, this would be on the list.

Its wakeworld - everyone has some weird tastes. I really think its a cool looking boat, but its obviously not a wakeboat and therefore most wont understand it. If I had the scratch - I would already own it, but thats because I am familier with Mastercraft and their quality. In order to make this boat a "contender" in this class, Mastercraft is going to have to appeal to boaters who may have never heard of them. The huge Mastercraft following in the wake and ski boat community will be a minority in the 300's purchases. Curious to see how it turns out for them. I respect the "take risks - safe is boring" innovative approach.

I personally think that the railing would have to go. Other than that it's a pretty boat. Are there any pictures of the inside? I wonder how much "X-Star Bling" will be on it. I personally think they will need to tone it down to capture the "Cobalt Market" but we'll see.

Boating magazine had their boat of the year was a last minute non-functional pickle fork 40ft Chapperal. It looks very similar to the MC 300. I like both alot. The pickle fork will make for a nice fullsize stateroom. The MC looks like it's channels will be functional so not as heavy weather boat as a deep V or true cat hull. My .02 cents. If I was in the market I'd compare to Cobalt. Good job MC, not sure about your timing but maybe keep it low production numbers until the economy picks up.

I think mastercrafts target market with the X-star, X-45, X-55, X-80, CSX series and now 300 aren't really all that effected by the economy. Typically speaking these owners do fairly well for themselves and most likely have a stable income, savings, assets, etc. I see really the market of the X-1 or X-2 getting hit the hardest by the economic downturn. Also Mastercraft is really pushing it's international presence in the middle east and australia where there tends to be a "bit" of monet kicking around. We have to remember that Mastercraft is a niche market player and doesn't produce high volumes of boats. I believe it's 14 per day.. for the world... maybe 50-60% allocated for North America and the rest abroad? (Wild Guess)

I'd be surprised if anybody was able to get into the 300 for $200k stripped. I'd guess that a moderately-loaded boat will sticker for around $300k. Their competition is already in the $250-300k range, I'd guess MC will position themselves above that.

they will also be a true inboard, while most of the competition is using stern-drives. I also believe MC is having some diesel engine options which would be great in the coastal areas and larger inland waterways.

I was at the factory... they said they scaled down from 18 to 14 boats a day... Judging by the amount of boats being build I don't doubt the 14...

What is going on in the economy spans all people rich and poor.Doesn't matter if its invested money or a downturn in a persons business.All facets of finance have taken some type of hit.Even if a person with great wealth takes a small hit its still enough to make them hold out on unecessary toys.

I'm a long time MasterCraft owner so I really hate to ask this, but is being an inboard an advantage for the market this boat is targeted at??? 30 foot, twin engine boat with a top speed of 45-50.......my estimate based on other inboards. Most of the competitors have stern drives that run 60mph plus and get better fuel economy. Although the people shopping for a boat this size probably aren't worried about the economy aspects.

And it doesn't have the IPS drive system where you have a joystick and can move the boat sideways without thrusters. High end 30+ ft boats have this as an option. MC is going to narrow their market even further by this advancement in cruiser boats.

^^^^ bcail: Stern drives may be faster, but they are at the bottom of the list for most saltwater buyers. They are prone to corrosion, bellows failure, and generally considered too fragile for serious salt use amongst the fish boat crowd. Outboards and either straight shaft or V drive inboards are much more popular in the salt.
