Need to do a first time oil change this weekend and wanted to know if anyone knew what filter I should use for my 2000 MC X-5...it has the standard 5.7L Indmar 310HP engine. I read on another post that a Puralator Pure One filter for a Chevy small-block would work just fine, but wanted to check before I ran out and got one. Also wanted to try to avoid paying a lot of $ at the dealership for a factory filter...avoiding the dealership when possible is a plus. Thanks!

Get a wix or a napa gold (relabeled wix). Don't know the number off the top of my head but I can get it.

Jason, so a plain old 5.7L automobile filter will work fine? Thanks for the feedback.

Pennzoil PZ-3 =

ACDelco PF25, PF454, PF454S, PF35 (long)
Purolator L20049
Purolator Pure One PL20049
Amsoil SDF25
Wix 51069
Napa Silver SFI 21069
Napa Gold FIL 1069
K&N HP-2002
Mobil 1 M1202
Fram PH30, TG30, DG30, or XG30
Motorcraft FL10, FL269, or FL774

Note, some of these are synthetic, etc. and would be considered a better filter than a PZ-3, but all are the equivalent size.

I'm hoping you can find one of those easier than a PZ-3. :-)

No problem... I saved the list this time so I won't have to look it up next time someone asks.

It's not easy to find a PZ-3. I wonder how much Pennzoil pays Indmar to make that the recommended filter and oil?
