I dunno who was first but Correct Craft had them in the late '60's.

Centurion Came out with a V drive Ski boat in 1986
Correct Craft came out with the V drive Barefoot Nautique in 1991

V-drives have been around since the 60's. I think Taylor, Sanger, and a few others used them for the flat-bottom racers back in the day.

Skiers Choice was the first manufacturer to ever put a v-drive in a boat. However, I'm not sure who the first manufacturer was that marketed/mass produced it.

good try Jon, the first application wasnt even in ski boats and correct craft did it 20 years before your homeboys did. Next you will be saying skiers choice was the first to put a tower on a boat although you dont know who mass produced it

Sure are a lot of "experts" here. I believe Casale make the first v-drive back in the 60s for the flattie circle racers. Have a look here:

Legend has it Mark Twain actually piloted the first v-drive. Sweet wake, too.
